Cz p09 jam problem. Please help
« on: June 03, 2017, 01:33:52 AM »
So i just recently bought the p09. And i love the gun but. The first couple times at the range i was getting jams. Im not a gun pro at all and dont know a whole bunch about guns or terminology so please bare with me.

After i load a magazine and insert it into the firearm. I pull the slide back to load the round into the chamber/barrel and when i release the slide it slides forward straight into the bullet. The bullet doesnt go into the barrel of the gun. The bullet get stuck nose up against the top of the barrel and the slide comes smashing into it and gets stuck like that.

Of course i take out the mag. And pull the slide back and it falls out. Sometimes the bullet doesnt fall out as easily as other times. This always seems to happen on my first round and sometimes first and second round. I usually eject those rounds and continue shooting and it shoots and does everything fine for the rest of the rounds.

Im sorry if i didnt describe this good but would really appreciate the help on figuring this out. It does do it for both magazines also. Im sure i dont need to explain to a gun community how important it is for me to have a gun that doesnt jam especially since this is my everyday gun.

Could it be just a break in thing? Seems to do it a little less now. And also i should note that i have cleaned and lubed it to and it did it.

Thank you for your time.

How are you dropping the slide?

Try locking the slide to the rear, insert full magazine, and then use the slide release to drop the slide.

If you are inserting the mag, grabbing the slide, pulling it backwards, and letting it go make sure you are "sling shotting" the slide forward.

Let the slide pull out of your hands and slam forward. Do not ride the slide forward. Being gentle with guns cause more malfunctions then being rough with them.

I'm with Kenneth. If it is shooting a whole magazine without a problem there is something wrong with how you are loading the first round. It need to be fast and positive.

are you "riding the slide" foward? if so STOP!

when charging the slide it needs to be a aggressive and positive action.

grasp the slide with your whole hand and "Rip" the slide to the rear and release immediately allowing the slide to close.
I might know what im talking about....but today, I don't.....
