Cz550 bad feeding from detachable magazine

Hi everyone, I just got a CZ550 fs in 308. This is my first cz550, so I'm not familiar with how they are supposed to perform. My particular rifle has a detachable magazine and I find that it feeds very poorly.
The magazine is a double stack/single feed design which has high lips which prevent the case rim from snapping in hard under the extractor. Instead the cartridge pops out of the magazine and is pushed loosely up the feed ramp. It is only when the bolt is pushed fully forward that it snaps under the extractor. If I withdraw the bolt any time before this then the cartridge simply falls out entirely from the extractor claw.
I find the extractor claw frequently misses and ends up pushing the carriage into the chamber like a push-feed. The last cartridge in the magazine always misses the extractor because the magazine follower sits too low to actually press the cartridge up against the magazine lips.
As I said before, this is my first cz550. I was expecting the magazine to press the cartridge right under the extractor so it snaps in immediately after exiting the mag- just how it does in m98s and Cz527s.
Any seasoned CZ550 owners out there to tell me what's going on?

My only CZ's 2 are a 550 Safari in .375 H&H and a 527 in 22 Hornet.   My 550 does not have a detachable magazine and feeds perfectly, the cartridge engaging the extractor claw as designed, as does the little 527.

There have been many CZ rimfire magazines with the follower and, or, spring installed backwards. It's worth a look.

My CZ 550 UCS in .308 Win has detachable 5 round and 10 round magazines.

In mine the cartridge is pushed loosely up the feed ramp as you describe.

In other gun forums there was discussion that CZ had been changing to the push-feed system in the more modern guns.
