New intermediate sized P07/09 roller from GCW
« on: August 20, 2017, 12:00:39 PM »
I just noticed that GCW has added a .225 roller for the P07/09 pistols. This would be and intermediate sized roller between their .220 and .230 to smooth the action and correct timing issue. This will allow for fine tuning the double action and is a great addition to what was already offered. Thank you CGW's!

I do not know about rollers applicable to my CZ P09 9mm.  I repeat on this forum that I want to keep it all stock but will put some miles on it as I play with other equipment/calibers.  The P-09 is my only semi-auto and I don't fix normally fix those things; therefore, I lose no parts.   :) I teach people how to operate paper punching pistols OR to break clay targets with a shotgun.

Timely!

The first time around I just ordered the .220 rollers for both of the P-07s I was upgrading. No timing issues - was maybe lucky.

I'm about to do two more and this time, for some reason, the need to measure before ordering has really been nagging me so... I will. :)

s0nspark, this subject about rollers is interesting.  I may never take my P-09 fully apart by myself but I will try to exercise the stock trigger.  I have not purchased or had magic parts installed in my P-09 9mm.  I enjoy showing people that a stock CZ can shoot, so to speak, accurately. ;)

DOC 1500, thanks for the response.  I am not ready to dive.  I have observed your sign off text on your posts and I appreciate what you said and the references.  Many people believe lies.

The nice thing about the P-07/P-09 is that they are great out of the box. You don't *need* to upgrade them to have an accurate, great shooting gun. Given enough rounds downrange and/or dry firing, the action smooths out and the springs break in and it just keeps getting better.

The reasons I do the CGW upgrades are really twofold. First, there are a handful of parts that address potential issues with stock parts. The firing pin retaining pin can break if you dry fire a lot (I do) and the trigger return spring is another part that, for a while, was a source of failure. I replace both of those just to be safe since these guns are carry guns for me.

From there, I choose to lighten a few springs (the guns are really oversprung from the factory) and, well, I end up just replacing everything LOL There is a relationship between many of the parts so when you start replacing one thing it requires you to replace something else to ensure proper operation. It is journey down the rabbit hole... but an extremely fun one :-D

Not to keep getting off topic but like what was mentioned before about the changing somethings for preventative measures and the. Some things needing other stuff to replace is both what I'm trying to do now and what I'm seeing as well.

Was going to save up the moooola and get the package from Cajun gun works but I'm not a patient person, so I started looking at what I could do now then go from there, wanted to do the hammer now but that requires the sear spring kit, so I thought I'll wait and maybe do the reset kit but that requires the other spring kit.  Neither of the required parts add much to the original wanted part but I got to looking and figured I'd get all the "prerequisites" out of the way first (would cost me less than either the hammer or reset kit on their own) which should make the gun sweeter than it already is, then when I can add the hammer then reset kit down the road

Also taking the gun completely down and back together is not so hard

s0nspark et al, I appreciate replies.  I must be saving cash (since I am cheap) but I said that for fun.  I have not taken my stock P-09 completely apart to play and/or polish.  I repeat things but my P-09 has been accurate from day 1 even with Winchester 9mm FMJ's.  It was good to hear about rollers.  I tend not to dry fire semi-autos but don't know what is typically used if a rubber grommet for example is used or else if dummy rounds are used on my "hammer gun" P-09.  I can make dummy rounds for revolvers to dry fire and stage the trigger for timed event practice with S&W revolvers.  In summary, I did not forum search for the dry fire options for semi-autos.  So, my new reply is not subject line specific.  Please be safe.
