Best All-Time Concert? Mine: TSO
« on: November 26, 2005, 02:31:09 AM »
I just barely stumbled across this band this year even though they have been around since 1996 or so.  I can't belive that I haven't heard of them before now because their roots are soo deep in rock and roll.
Anyway, I went to their concert tonight in Salt Lake City and it was the best concert I have ever attended!!!  Besides incredible musicians, playing and singing, they had an awesome light, laser, and pyrotechnics show.  Check out the website, www.trans-siberian.com, look at the pics (they are accurate on how the concert looked) and listen and watch the few tidbits on the media tab.

My whole family went and my conservative parents, my hard rockin' brother and my 14 year-old piano playing sister all loved it.  It appeals to everyone.  The Christmas message is great and the music, again, is superb.

Share your favorite concerts and bands.  Give links to tidbits for tantalizing, too, if available.

I have only heard thier version of "Carol Of The Bells", which is incredibly awesome....gives Mannheim Steamroller a good run for the money!

Actually, I think they leave Mannheim Steamroller in the dust!
As for my all-time best concert, it would have to be The Black Crowes from thier "Southern Harmony and the Musical Companion" tour that came to the Tower Theater outside of Philadelphia in the mid-90s.

Mine has to be when Clapton did his "An evening of the Blues with E.C. tour"  He played every blues tune I have ever wanted him to play live in a concert, he played fenders, gibsons and martin guitars and he played his butt off!!!  I've seen him a cocncert or two where it is obvious he is holding back , but not on that tour. :D

Dire Straits - 'Brothers in Arms'tour, Live in '85'. Played for 4 hours and had Clapton and Hank Marvin as guests.

Knopfler, Clapton, and Marvin all jamming together on stage, if George Harrison had turned up, I would have died a happy man!

Inter arma enim silent leges - Cicero

I wasn't born in America, but I got here as fast as I could.

Speaking of the Trans Siberian Orchestra, here's a link to the best Christmas light display I've ever seen.  The music behind it is TSO, so it's relevant.  I'm pretty sure the link is work safe.  Turn up the volume and enjoy, and then tell me how they did this:

I saw Eric Clapton four years ago at Indianapolis. It was a dream come true.

Queen, late 70's.  Freddie and crew put on a concert/extravaganza.

Best concert? I am going to age my self, Though I had seen
him 5 times before, Harry Chapin had come to Columbus, Ohio
to perform by himself (no members of his band came). He was
late, flying in from Washington DC after testifying in Congress
about world hunger.  He did his songs solo and he came to one
song called "Mr Tanner". This song requires someone to sing
along with him singing the Christmas song....fall on your knees.... etc..etc...well he sings the chorus to the song. The
person he picked randomly happened to be a student at a local university who was a baritone music student.  I left the Ohio Theater with goosebumps the size of golf balls and yes,
a cople of tears in my eyes...I have been to many concerts but none has ever moved me as that night. It was the best concert I ever went to....shame he had to die so young.
