You could, but with that amount of wear, I personally would strip and refinish. Color match issues would be very obvious.

locally here there are a bunch of guys who do duracoat pretty inexpensively. I wouldnt recomend touching it up. Strip it and start new. I am partial to blued finishes so when I decided to redo my slide I went with mark lee's bluing. Except for the fact that it takes some time it was not very difficult to do. Follow the instructions and it is fairly simple but it did take me half a day+.

I love the results. Only problem I see is the gun I did it on was only parkerized so striping it was work but doable at home. I am not sure how to get off the CZ coating short of a blast cabinet.

Here is a link to a thread where I describe my experience.

Just had my p01 refinished. You could do that whole thing in ti nitride and it will cost like 180. It's super durable and looks good or cerokote is a good option and that will cost less  you also have more options for colors

this needs a complete refinish job.......there's no touching this up.  The finish on that gun comes of fairly easily, compared to the modern poly-coat.  There are so many finish options available just pick one and go with it....many you can do without too much trouble.  ::)

What is the best way to get the finish off?

Regular household paint stripper. The thick stuff? I took the finish off of a pre B in mere minutes with it.

Depending upon your skill set, you may want to disassemble down to the frame. I did and used Duracoat to finish it. It came out fantastic. CGW had to bail me out with the trigger!

Thanks. It was an interesting and fun project. I learned a lot like, let CGW do the trigger work. So many tiny pieces...so many ways to fail.

The pic with the stripper made me gasp. Good you followed with the end result or I'd need CPR.

The results are beautiful. Nice work.

Sandblaster will take it off quick and easy. If you strip it yourself, a local auto body repair will sand blast it for you for next to nothing and be done in 10 minutes with no mess to clean up. Or use it as an excuse to buy your own blasting box and compressor.

I shipped my slide to Mahovsky's  (http://www.mahovskysmetalife.com/) who hard chromed it after blasting off the poly coat that was on it. The hard chrome makes it really easy to clean and as impervious as a coating one can get, and for $70 only plus shipping.
