CA Compliant Scorpion - How to fix the problems?
« on: October 21, 2017, 07:29:13 PM »
Took my Kalifornia compliant Scorpion Carbine to the range this morning for the first time.

First, trigger mostly bites. Not a surprise. That will be going out for the full SE fix next week.

Second, the grip wrap just plain sucks. Resting my thumb on the safety lever while shooting rubbed against both the safety and the top edge of the grip wrap.

Shooting with thumb completely clear of the gun didn't draw blood, but made me feel out of control and my groups opened up a lot (5" at 20 yds)

Wearing a glove, I was able to rest my thumb on the safety and shoot like I actually know what I'm doing. Don't want to have to shoot wearing a glove.

Are there any aftermarket safety levers that will work better than stock with the grip wrap? I don't have these issues with my Kali compliant featureless ARs with grip wraps.

For safety, I am using HBI mini AK safety lever on the right side. I left the stock safety on the left side. I also installed grip tape and that helps a lot with the grip.
I hope this helps

Thanks for the mini-AK safety suggestion. I've placed my order for a Shooters Element trigger spring job and polish and added the safety to the list. That looks like it will help.
