Trouble removing buttplate..
« on: September 19, 2017, 07:47:56 PM »
Ooof, watched all the videos of how to remove the buttplate so I can put a brace on this thing, but I feel like I'm gonna break something, I depressed the button with a long enough hex and I have a rubber mallet banging away at the thing but it won't budge, any suggestions?  Is the button supposed to stay depressed once it's pressed down or do you just have to hammer at the plate going upwards while pressing down on the button?   :(

I thought I wasn't going to be able to get mine off without breaking something. The pin only pushes in a little bit. I have a dual sided rubber and plastic hammer. I push the pin in and tap it pretty hard with the plastic side until it moves a little then use the rubber side.

You can actually push the pin in past flush, turning your hex head or pinch into another pin. You just have to push it in a little.  I use a gun vise and a rubber mallet.  It is tough to get off that first time.  You can spray a little oil into the crevices to help loosen things up.

Do you have any aftermarket goodies installed that are in the way of the mount coming off - like a PMM QD sling mount?

Gees I did that before  :-\ luckily noticed it before getting out the bigger hammer. The first time taking off the rear receiver cover or moving or removing your grip are scary hard/tight. Push the buton in all the way whack thst mofo hard and it should move enough to keep the button held in. You can always try some thin lube like wd40 or clp spray

Haha thanks y'all!  I did indeed manage to finally wack the bleep buttplate off with the wood end part of my rubber mallet LOL, I dunno why I was worried of breaking something, I mean the Scorpion is supposed to be all sorts of famous for being able to take some real abuse and keep on firing right?  My Tailhook kit with CZ cheekrest is arriving tomorrow so I wanted to get that plate off in advance and ready to just slap on the brace!  Can't wait, thanks again everyone!

Yah it can take hitting that pretty hard at first to get it off. I remember thinking "man should I really hit it this hard?" When I first tried to get it off.

Glad you got it.

That's what she said.

Another question related to hammering the hell out of something on the Scorp...and for any Tailhook owners..I got my Tailhook kit, I feel I had to hammer in that Roll pin so hard, how the heck do you get the roll pin back out of there if or when ya wanna change the length of it??   :o

That roll pin is nice and tight, but the polymer is soft and has a little give.  A little remoil on the pin before it goes in is a help.  But, if you need to remove it, use a pin punch, and support both sides of the stock component when you push it through.

I would love to see a version with a pull pin.  I would REALLY love to see a version that is 1/4 inch longer so I can use coupled mags with the brace folded.  The tailhook is just shy of clearing it.

Yep, I am having trouble getting that darn butt plate off. I am right handed.  I previously mounted a PMM QD rear sling mount of the left side of my CZ scorpion EVO 3 S1 on the right hand side of the built in plastic hoop.  It faced to the butt plate. However, the PMM mount interferred with moving the butt plate up to take it off.  I finally managed to free the mount screw from the loctite (ugh) and removed the mount.  I reversed the mount to face to the muzzle but now is slanted upwards about 45 degrees from horizontal.  I guess it is ok to leave it like this.

Sorry if I have over complicated the situation, but I was and still am really frustrated.   O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0

Does PMM make a mount I should use and how do I refer to it????

Has anyone else had this problem???????

PMM just informed me to get one for a left hand shooter (for right hand side of gun) and reverse it for me as a right hand shooter (on the left hand side of the gun).

Ahh me... life can be sooooo simple!!!! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

I've got one of the Parker Mountain Machine QD rear sling mounts in mine.  Well it blocks removal of stock.  Ask me how I know. Now I remember to remove it first before I get caveman frustrated. Perhaps it's a clearance issue on yours?
