I went to the range on Sunday with cold 97B"E", cold ammo, and grease. Mid-20s and 15 mph wind. I had not brought the guns or ammo in the house overnight so they were at truck interior temp in an unheated garage. I didn't even consider shooting the Kadet on this range visit.
This is the first time I've had any feeding/ejection problems with a centerfire gun in cold weather. What I get for cleaning and adding some light grease to the slide rails and barrel. I had to add very thin oil at the range to get the gun to cycle. That worked, even with the cold ammo.
My 97B"E" is very tight, mechanically, as one would expect, and that is the way I like it. But, like I have to do with the Kadet, I'll be using very light oil on it in the cooler months. Actually, I'll be treating it exactly like I do the Kadet. And I'll bring the ammo into the house to keep it warm as long as I can. Here is a video from Sunday.
