Some Witness P FS questions
« on: December 29, 2017, 03:43:00 PM »
Finally handled a Witness P FS today in an LGS. I was impressed.   I liked the grip, and trigger in SA, as usual was better than the average CZ.  The DA was NICE and short, but very heavy.  Per the TF 'econoline' the front sight was fixed as part of the slide.  Not sure I like the serrated trigger.

Anyone change out the hammer spring and still have success with hard primers?  (This would give it a VERY nice pull.  I was able to do this with a CZ Compact and CZ Transitional without changing any other parts).

Would a polish job help smooth/lighten the DA?

Do the MecGar CZ 17 rd mags work in it fine?

Anyone make Kydex holsters for these?

Anyone shoot one AND shoot the Phantom or P09 and give a comparison?

Other than the known issues with EAA, any issues with these guns? (I hear there IS a POA/POI issue).

Thanks.

I have to remind myself that this time of year people are on holiday, out in the real world having lives while I'm stuck at home broke & poor. :-\

I was going to answer regarding mag compatibility but then I remembered Witness PITA small frame/large frame mixups. Here's the .pdf from EAA with mag part #s that
you can use to cross reference. If yours is a P than I would assume large frame, I actually still have one brand new large frame mag (#101935) that was bought in error (was going to use in my SAR K2P but no bueno). I suggest Greg Cote as a good starting point for finding MecGar mags that will fit yours.

I have one of these, it takes any full size CZ mags fine. You will love the serrated trigger when you try it. I love mine and for the money one of the best IMO.

As mentioned, I'm spending quality time with family during the holiday.
The witness P small frame full size is one of my favorite also.  It is reliable, accurate and fits my hands very well. The serrated trigger didn't bother me at all; but the fixed front sight, not much sight options.  Out of the box, mine experienced low poi issue with both 115 and 124gr.  The LPA adjustable rear sight fixed my problem.   Preferably a lighter DA I replaced the hammer spring with the 13 lbs Wolff spring.  Instead polishing the trigger,  I opted for the extra ammo and the snap cap dry firing to smooth out the trigger.  No light strike with wolf steel and iwi so far. As suggested by many, I ordered a few Mecgar mags from Greg Cote website which has good information.

Like mine. I made no mods to mine and it runs fine. The trigger serrations are no noticeable to me.
