1st 50 rounds on P-07
« on: January 28, 2018, 10:17:21 PM »
Safety seems like a long reach with a small backstrap and medium sized hands. I'm one to slam my hand into the tail, squeeze hard and have to reach a bit for the safety, causing a position shift that's less than desirable, not much to hit once I get there - price you pay for slim I suppose.

Am I alone or just requires some getting used to?

Other than that, fast target aquisition seemed great, slow fire accuracy was excellent. Used 115gr target rounds of a couple flavors. Trigger seemed fine in both da and sa (better than me anyway ;)

If you're shooting DA, why use the safety? Switch to decocker?

Agree with SlvrDragon50. Use the decocker.

It sounds like for you, C/L may be tough and the decocker better.  it IS a modern DA/SA gun.  Having that option is good, and I will say that the slide release is EASIER to use with the safety, and some folks IF well trained enjoy a consistent trigger pull with the manual safety.

Keep in mind that I have gone over to DA/SA for carry purposes.  I also like to decock with my support hand.  The P07 is pretty easy, but even easier to decock with my support hand - which then also allows you to keep your strong hand in perfect alignment ready to engage the whole time you decock, check your LOS, and reholster.  I think decocking with the firing hand is weaker, and more vulnerable, and reholstering should be a conscious two handed operation anyway.

This is also why I think decocking a gun like the P07 even with a manual safety can be done safely and easily with the support hand thumb blocking the hammer.  Not pinching like a brain dead gun reviewer.   But, BACK to the OP - some have trouble getting the safety to release with small to medium thumb length.

You will THEN need DA and DA/SA practice, plus much shooting and polishing and likely the CGW extended FP and 15 LB mainspring.

For CCW, condition1 is the only way I'll carry. Reach and ease of safety is critical to me. I changed the decocker day one. I love the M11A1, but not for CCW. P938, HK p30 or sk, hoping I can get used to the CZ. Muscle memory and all that.
