Recently picked up an 8" Bren 2 pistol. Has some HBI parts and a SB brace on it.
Impressed by the bolt smoothness.
Looking to pick up some OEM parts and took it apart to remove the Q plan B muzzle device.
OEM parts seem very hard to find.
Anyone know how much to torque the barrel T25 bolts? I did not see it in the manual. Want to find OEM handguards and put it back together but the seller did not have the bolts uniformly torqued so I don't know how tight to go.
Thanks.
That depends. If you have a Bren 2S (lucky you!) with no detachable “hand guard” or the Bren 2Ms with the OEM integrated “hand guard,” I was told by a tech at CZ USA that the screws should all be torqued to 64 in-lbs.
However, if you have a HBI hand guard, it’s subject to experimentation. Originally, since their hand guard went from @ 15 screws on the OEM integrated “hand guard” structure to just 4 screws to hold the HBI hand gaurd and the barrel and receiver together, HBI recommended jacking up the torque to 90 in-lbs. Unfortunately, that amount of torque sometimes pinched the receiver and interfered with the action of the bolt / carrier — not good!!
Anyway, there are several threads here on the subject if you want to get educated. Some recommend as little as 40 in-lbs, which sounds pretty crazy to me when you have only 4 screws holding the barrel / receiver / hand guard together.
