Kel Tec P11 owners. Metal recoil spring guide rod

My plastic P11 recoil spring guide rod was starting to get a bit bent and affecting performance, so I ordered six of them from Kel Tec and got the metal ones instead. The plastic ones are horrible! What a difference!!!!!. They are only $6.95.  I was experiencing occassional jams, but upon making the replacement, no jams at all!!! what a difference in performance as well!! it is so noticable its not even funny!

Yes, six of them.  I have three P11s, one in gray, one in od green, and one in black (parkerized).  So I purchased one for each of them, plus another for each one as a backup.  , plus I have a friend who has a P11 and I am going to give him one as a gift.

Could I see a picture of one of those field stripped?  I am wondering if the barrel is a copy of some other design.

Thanks.  I'm curious how it locks.  What kind of barrel system is that?

CanuckZ:
The P11 barrel is a simple breech lock and the barrel is heat treated ordinary ordnance steel.  ,  I have many thousands of rounds through mine without any hickups.
The best possible ammo that you can use is Sellier and Bellot.  Please trust me, it feeds the best in it.

I carried a P-11 for several years.  Its a good solid gun.

The Kel-Tec owners group offers a trigger fix (a guy named Blackhawk, if I remember correctly) that reduces the length and weight of pull.

I liked mine, but never really got as proficient with it as I wanted.

I used mine in IDPA shoots.  My first course of fire was always rough -- I'd have to take several extra shots to get on target.  The rest of the match I'd do very well with it.

I got to thinking about it, and realized that my inabilities with the P-11 coincided with the situations where I'd have to use it most often: out of the holster and immediately into action, withtout warm-up shots.  I traded it away.

I'll probably get another one, one of these days -- as I'm a great believer in the gun -- just am not confident of my ability to use it to its full potentail.  With the trigger mods, it might do what I need.

I don't have that problem with my P3AT.

The P-11 is a very good, proven, innovative design.

I was just wondering if the barrel was a copy of another make because I want a longer barrel for one of these.  You can't import these into Canada due to "short" barrel length, but if the barrel was 4.18 inches long, it would be okay.

Not good for the citizens of the Confederation of Canada.  I understand that the western provinces such as British Columbia , Manitoba, Saskachetwan, and Alterta, are more open minded.  Granted, its more of a long gun environment vis a vi hunting, etc, but Canadian citizens should have the freedom to collect mouse guns and snubbies.  Its time for the western provinces to lead a cecessionist movement away from bolshevised Quebec and parts of Ontario, as well as the Atlantic provinces.  . but then again, if Canadian citizens don't care, why should I?

Now that I have finished my political rant,  back to the P11, if you are able to ever get one, please get the parkerized slide to reduce holster wear.  , or you can do what many of my Canadian friends have done, they have moved to Florida and have not looked back since.
