Spring replacement schedule
« on: March 17, 2018, 06:08:13 PM »
While I have the gun apart for other work, how often should I replace the mainspring (hammer spring), the firing pin return spring, and the extractor spring?  This particular 75B has 31,000 rounds through it and the only springs I have changed so far are the recoil spring every 5,000 rounds and the trigger return spring at 23,000 rounds when the factory original broke.

When should I change the others?

If you have the gun apart I'd replace any spring you've taken out just because it's apart and now would be a good time to do it. As far as a schedule I'd say given how well the gun has held up at 31k rnds there's your schedule right there.
I do recoil spring every 2500-3500 rnds but the others I just keep clean and lubed unless I take the gun down then I'll install new at that point.

Okay, I will probably do that since I have it all apart anyway.
