CZ75 CZC Extended Safety question
« on: January 17, 2018, 08:05:15 AM »
OK, I run one on my main SP01 frame and have learned to ride it like a rented mule. Now im working on fitting a 75 SA frame with one.  but once I popped out the old one (surprise) I discover the older tumbler safety.

Anyone know what RHS safety I need to work with the LHS CZ75 CZC Extended Safety ?

I like the normal ones.

And are the sear cages etc the compatible?

You need the D style rh safety.

I want to say if you have the tumbler sear cage the D style will work in it but i dont remember for sure.

I have the CZC extended safety on my SP-01. I agree, it is great. I wanted to put it on my 75 SA Shadow with the Tumbler style safeties. The sear cages are different. It can be done, but you must change the sear cage, the sear and both safeties. Costs over $200. Here is a link to another thread http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=71101.0 that discusses the swap.

What I did instead, was have a buddy of mine who is a retired welder and metallurgist silver solder an extension to the left hand safety on my 75 SA.

Stuart replied to an email query.. said it is doable - but needs lots of parts. I'm not happy as I have gotten used to riding the wide safety shooting limited minor.  This also impacts my opinion about the bull shadow on the 75 SA frames.

What sear cage number do you have?

Im pretty sure the D safeties fit in the thumbler sear cage. I have a couple guns and sear cages along with a set of tumbler safeties, thin safeties, and the extended 75 safety your asking about.

In my 75 shadow i believe it came with tumbler safeties and i installed thin d style in the same sear cage. I can check tonight to make sure the extended safety works.

Alright got some Good answers for ya.

So don't worry about the sear cage numbers because all of the ones I have are labeled 3 and 2 of them are D style and one is a Tumbler.

So the D cage will not except the tumbler safety of course just due to the size difference in the cage holes.

But in your case where you have the tumbler cage the D style safeties will work in the tumbler cage but you will have to swap out the right side safety detent for the non spring loaded RH side flat D style safety detent.

Just to make sure I put in the Extended 75 Safety in the Tumbler cage and tested it. I currently run the D style Thin safeties in the tumbler cage on my 75 Shadow for probably 10,000 rounds and haven't had any issues.

I'm glad I found this thread.  I'm about to try an extended 'D' style left-hand extended thumb safety on an SP-01.  From what I can tell (have not disassembled yet), the stock ambi safety one the SP-01 is the 'D' style.  I'm a righty shooter and only want the extended safety on the left side of the pistol, so will the 'D' style extended thumb safety fit into the existing right-hand safety lever/housing, or do I have to get an extended tab for the right side as as well?

I'd rather have just nothing there but I don't see any sort of plug or the like available for the larger hole left in the frame for the right side tab.

As long as you can see the D shape of the end of the shaft showing on the right hand safety, you are good to go. You don't need an extended safety on the right side to make it work.

Thanks much, I'm glad!

I just realized, I can also grind down and blue over the right side lever so it's even less intrusive.  But as it is now it really doesn't get in the way since the 'tab' part is high enough.

I just wish I could use the Shadow 2 extended safety with the higher lip on the SP-01.

I am dealing with a similar issue with my CZ 75 SA, except I am wanting to go the other way, and replace the stock extended safety, for a standard 75B style safety (the large one interferes with my grip). My problem is I am struggling to find a tumbler style standard LHS safety to replace it. As I understand it the 85C safeties are tumbler style (but they are sold out). Right now I am considering using a stainless LHS safety as they are also the tumbler style (but I would rather a black one).

Just to confirm, are you guys saying I can buy a standard D style LHS safety and use it in a SA tumbler cage, providing I change out the detent on the existing RHS tumbler safety?

My other plan is to try and find someone who replaced their standard with an extended and is looking to rid of their old one!

Thanks,
