My SP-01 and CGW Pro Kit
« on: June 28, 2018, 09:57:41 AM »
After a lot of polishing up of some of the internal components, I installed the CGW Pro Kit in my CZ 75 SP-01, yesterday afternoon. Will be heading out to the range in a bit to see and feel how it runs and cycles.

So far, the gun feels great. The lighter DA trigger press is exactly what I was hoping to achieve. The SA press and reset is just shy of my Sig Legions. The 85C trigger feels much better. The reach reduction is perfect. This is going to be an awesome shooter.

I also installed a set of LOK Bogie grips, CGW extended LH thumb safety, extended magazine release, Dawson EZ/D fiber optic sight set, and steel guide rod with the gray #14 recoil spring.

Currently, my aim is to include this gun in my IDPA rotation.

I would be remiss, if I did not extend a huge ?Thank you!? to all of the contributing members here for making this project as painless as possible . . . Thank you!

ETA: Also a Big Thanks to CGW for making it possible for us to tune our guns to perform much better.

Well, the first range session with the CGW Pro pkg. was a success to say the least. Shot the first 25 rounds from a rest to insure that the sights were on and they were. Nice tight 5 shot groups out to 15 yards. The remaining 75 rounds were shot DA with SA follow up shots at 7 yards to get accustomed to the new personality of my SP-01. It was already quite accurate. Now, it simply runs a lot quicker and is much easier to manage.

Am very pleased with the way my SP-01 performed. Unfortunately, I do not have a trigger gage to measure the wights in DA and SA. However, the SA is very light with a short and pronounced reset and the DA is smooth and lighter than I had expected. All of the polishing paid off.

With the DA press as light as it is, I may removed the extended LH thumb safety and replace it with the OEM flat safety, as I will surely start in DA. The follow up in SA shots are quick and precise.

Tomorrow morning I will load up my steel plates and head back out to the range with 300 rounds and ring some 10 inch plates at 12 to 30 yards for a proper breakin.

I will be planning CGW upgrades for my CZ 2075 BD RAMI and CZ 75 compact. Currently, I am contemplating the 85C trigger, short reset kit, and the reach reduction kit for these 2 carry guns.

I pretty much did the same changes on my SP-01T, inckuding the grips and extended mag release (short thumbs). I took a course for USPSA pistol competition, and my stock SP did very well, but I also ran my instructor's pistol with Pro kit which was night and day. I am going to run a few matches to see how I like it, and also try my P-01 in an IDPA match or two and see which I like better. I am leaning IDPA at this point.

Nice setup, keep us informed when you run a match!

It?s great to have options, isn?t it? I will be shooting my SP-01 at my club?s local IDPA match a week from this coming Sunday.

This morning?s steel practice was a hoot. Shooting DA/SA pairs was a breeze at 25 to 30 yards using 10 inch round plates. The DA first shot is so much smoother and precise from the holster. The follow up SA shots are effortless, but everyone with a CGW Pro Kit already knows that.

Used my SP-01 at a local IDPA match, yesterday. It ran like a champ. Needless to say, I am very pleased with the results.

This morning I am going to experiment a bit and drop in a CGW 13# recoil spring in lieu of the current 14# spring.

I have a SP-01 Tact with the CGW Pro-Package installed and the trigger is butter smooth. The gun has 8000 rounds through it. Of all the CZ's I own, the trigger in this gun is the best of all of them. I have the CGW 13# hammer spring installed and I'm getting trigger pulls of, from the decocker position 6.6# and SA 2.3#. I have a 75BD & PCR and both have the CGW Pro-Package installed along with the CGW 13# hammer and getting very similar numbers in those two as well. The triggers in both are smooth but not as smooth as the SP-01 Tact. They only have approx 500 rounds through each.
