Installing single side safety to SP-01?
« on: May 30, 2018, 12:31:36 PM »
So I have a CZ Accu-Shadow that includes the extended "thumb shelf" ambi/double side safety on it.  For the same reason I never liked the "Gunsite low shelf 1911 safeties" popular in the 90s, the CZ extended safety feels weird to me, eventhough I do like to ride the safety.
As things turn out I think I like the "stock / factory" SP-01 safeties.

I don't feel like paying $70 for a new OEM safety and for some odd reason people are not selling their old OEM safeties online or ebay so I can't find a good deal on a set.  I guess they are just throwing them away? : )
So, I considered a single side manual safety that looks like the OEM SP-01 safety.  Not sure if I want to go this route yet.

The question - is there any caveats I should know about installing the single side safety?  I realize that it may need fitting to my current hammer, but what about the right side detents present in an ambi safety?  Do those go away?  Is there an issue with "D" and "O" shaped tumblers on the safety "stem"?
