Walking trigger pin
« on: May 03, 2018, 01:59:40 AM »
Hey all,

I noticed that the right side of the trigger pin on my sp01 was only staked a very little amount because it is a bit short. And now after some 5000 rounds the pin starts walking to the left within a few trigger pulls.
I've read up on here and know the easy solution... But the problem is I live in Belgium and thus can't order a floating trigger pin.
Restaking the pin isn't possible because there isn't enough material.

Are there any more durable options than another factory pin?

Thanks in advance
Toby

How handy are you? You could make a floating trigger pin. I did that with my pre-b trigger pin because it was solid. PITA with how hard that old steel was. But since you can?t order the CGW floating trigger pin this could be your best bet.

I think you're right. I'm fairly handy, but I don't have much metal work tools. First thing I'll check is see if it is a solid pin.
How deep should the recess be?

Living in Europe I'm jealous at all the great options you have.
So if all else fails I will put my trust in one of the forum members, transfer him the necessary money to write me a letter including the pin 😀

You?ll just need to order/buy a strong piece of steel rod. Mine fit in one of my Drexel chucks. From there I just tried tools/parts for metal removal to create the recess. Another member might have good ideas on what to try since I?m pretty sure I destroyed a cheap file.

TdC,

This won't help in the short term, but CGW parts should be available in Europe this year through our new distribution network.

Schmeky, that's fantastic news for us over here!
If I can fix it temporarily now, then I can order the permanent fix later on ;D

ps the pin seems solid and I have a file approximately the width of the spring so I'll know what to do this evening.

@ Scarlett pistol
A few hours with the original pin clamped in a drill and a metal file and the pin is fixed for now. Thanks!

But since I don't know how long this fix will hold up, I can't wait for some CGW upgrades. Yes plural... I have seen more than a few things I would really like.

Haha glad it worked. There is absolutely no way I recommend this to anyone state side who can just buy one of CGW's trigger pins. It just isn't worth the effort without a machine shop. Hopefully it gets you by for now. Unless there is something unusual with the metal I would expect it should hold up.
