Mags for the Phantom
« on: April 17, 2019, 09:33:37 AM »
It's my understanding that the mec-gar cz75 magazines will not eject properly in the Phantom and that only CZ manufactured mags will work in this regard.  Would this also be true for any full size cz75 mag, including the pre-B ones?

I use the 19rd Mecgar?s in my Phantom.....which is just the 17rd w/+2 base extension and don?t have any issues with ejection on any of the mags. Not sure where the ejection ?issue? originated, I?ve used Mecgars with all my 25+ CZ pistols over the years and never had ANY issues.  ;)

I recently spent some time on the range with a SP-01 Phantom. We used two factory mags that came with the pistol as well as two 19 rd. Mec-car magazines the owner picked up. We put about 300 rounds through the pistol with no trouble what so ever.

The Phantom I owned a decade ago had a tight magwell. I had to sell it because it was not usable for IDPA competition.
The current production models have an improved polymer that solved that problem. My new style Phantom works perfect with MecGar mags.

I am also having problems with the Mecgar 17 round magazines dropping free. I purchased 3 nickel plated magazines and discovered they fit tightly. I incorrectly assumed it was the nickel plate causing the problem and purchased 3 blued 17 round Mecgar magazines.  The blued mags fit just as tightly as the nickel. They are tight the about the last last 1/4 of the way in about the place where the taper on the magazine contacts the magazine catch on the way in. The mags must be pulled out by the base pad to remove. I have not made the time to measure the magazines but I did purchased 2 additional factory mags that worked perfectly.
