CZ-75 Shoots Low
« on: April 02, 2018, 11:01:02 AM »
I have had several pre-B CZ-75's that shoot way low, like 6" at 25 yards.  Not really any higher sight options for the older dovetail cut available from the factory so I have had to fix them by making a shim from feeler gauge stock to match the profile of the sight base, then recutting the sight to press in higher.  It works fine but just a PITA.  Picked up a 91 off GB and same old story so I am going to have to fix it.  :(

Is shooting low a common problem??

What sight picture/hold are you using? Many old service grade guns like this were calibrated for the combat style hold where the sights are place over the intended point of impact. Of course 6in. low @ 25 yds isn't all that bad for an old combat handgun.

I think the only option is to have the rear slide cut for a modern sight. And if you do that, you should probably get a 1911 cut for the front sight. I had CGW do a 1911 dovetail cut for the front, and I?m trying to file it down to work with existing rear sight on a 75 pre-B. It probably won?t turn out any better than the original sight. But At least it won?t be that little ramp filed down. And I can replace it myself. I don?t think there are any good cheap solutions.

A simple and cheap solution is to shim the rear sight up.  Calculate the adjustment required to correct the error an cut a shim out of a piece of feeler gauge with a Dremel and small cutoff wheel.  I make it fit the profile of the base of the rear sight, file the sight off on the angle so it will press in with the shim under it.  Q-tip and cold blue on the edge of the shim.  I will post a pic later.   Just wondering if anyone else's CZ's shoot low.

I have one that used to shoot that low. A former member here installed Dawson rear adjustable and fiber optic front. He also fitted the barrel.
