I suppose I could have picked up the follower, picked up the file, and then set them both back down. That could have been the step before the tiny bit I took off.

You also could have installed the extensions, not stretched the springs nor used a file, test-fired, and then picked up the file if necessary and test-fired.

From Hennings:  "For 45 ACP you will use the factory follower and spring. To ensure the factory follower does not get stuck, take a file and round the front top of the follower so that is more rounded. There are no aftermarket follower/spring options for 45 ACP. Using the factory follower you will get 12 + 1 capacity !"

Nowhere is spring-stretching recommended.

The spring stretching came in back when I put the Cain Arms extensions on. They recommend that on their website.

Worst case scenario I might order up two new mags from Greg Cote and start with unadulterated product, but hopefully I can get what I have working.

I would be leary of any product that requires a magazine spring to be stretched. Too many variables (where in the spring?, how much to stretch?, etc.) and it sounds like a poor design that would require it.

When I was looking for 97 extensions, I saw the Cain products on Youtube. I wasn't impressed by Cain or the extensions.

Getting new mags sounds like a good idea.

I polish all my feedramps not because I've found it helps feeding but because it helps cleaning.  Plus it takes very little time and is low cost mod that even if it doesn't help it also doesn't cost anything really.  I did have to file off and polish a feedramp on one of my TSO's as it got damaged on the edge somehow and had a little burr protruding up in the middle of the feedramp.

I don't think polishing minimizes the carbon buildup potential, it does make it very easy to clean off though.

Cheers,
Toby

I pinched each joint in the spring in the problem magazine, just a little, almost seemed like I didn't change anything, but it seems to have done the trick. Ran 4 mags through with the cheap ammo with no issues.

The only problem I have now is they were out of black extensions when I ordered the second, so I have a black and green one. I am thinking about spray painting the extensions to match the OD/Black Lok Grips Thin Bogies I have on the gun.
