75B slide stop gap
« on: June 23, 2018, 01:34:47 PM »
Hello all, I recently purchased my first CZ pistol (have a 455 .22LR), the 75B.  It lives up to all of the praise - love it!

I've noticed that the position of the slide stop changes, in terms of its distance to the frame, ever so slightly with shooting.  I bought it brand new.  I've got about 600 rounds through it so far.  After field stripping/cleaning and putting it back together, there's no light visible (significant gap) between the stop and the frame.  A tiny gap "shows up" after firing a while (single session, a number of rounds but usually 50-100, and we're talking standard factory loaded 115gr FMJ rounds, not +P, handloads or anything out of complete ordinary).  Basically the slide stop moves out/away very slightly from the frame.  Have not had a single malfunction from the very first shot I fired from the gun.  I'm not worried that it will "fall out" (I saw some other posts discussing how hard it might be to remove the slide stop, some people can do with finger pressure - not the case at all with mine - no way finger pressure (that I can apply!) will push it out; I took apart a wooden clothespin and use one "arm" of it as a tool to (a) push the pin out and (b) using the other end of the wood piece I can better leverage it out, and the wood doesn't mar the finish).

But I was just wondering if anyone else had seen this slight gap appear with firing on their pistol and if so, has it ever caused an issue?  Though I doubt mine (for reasons noted above) could ever possibly come all the way out, I just wonder if it could migrate out just enough to prevent it from holding the slide open/functioning properly.

Many thanks!

No worries I'm sure. But it's just a bit of spring wire in a slot on the slide stop that keeps it in place so if the grove is slightly wider than the wire the stop will have a bit of play.
If you can't push the slide stop out with the tip of your finger I'd say all is well, you can visually check that the spring wire is in it's frame grove with the slide off then slide in the stop and check the play and tension.

Thank you!  Just put another 100 rounds through it about 2 hours ago, and once again flawless perfection.  Gun, that is!  I'm still learning the ropes with it, but every time out tightening up the groups as I get to know the gun.

Normal on all mine. Happens just from racking the slide a number of times. Push back in as it protrudes if it bothers you.

Sounds like the normal play left to right. As long as the slide release spring  is riding on the "slot",  it's not an issue.
As far as pushing it out with your finger,  give a few hundred to a thousand  more rounds.  Oil the rod especially at the right end slot.  Pull the slide back a little at a time farther than where the slide release holds it.  Held a little farther back,  there's a spot that lets you pop the slide release/stop under the spring slot and pull it out the other side.
At first, you may find it awkward to hold rear slide pressure and push on the slide stop. "Practice makes perfect."
Three that I'm familiar with and quite a number I've handled at our local matches ALL will push put by hand. Some do take a little more "push" than others,  but they will push out of the spring slot and can be pulled out from that point.

Thanks all, I just wanted to make sure that others had experienced this and that it wasn't a problem with mine.  I've had zero malfunctions with it, and it doesn't "bother" me per se, other than again wanting to make sure that it isn't a problem.  Yes, I've pushed it back in (left to right) and the tiny gap disappears, but of course comes right back after a shot or two.  I figured that it'll become easier to push out (disassembly) with wearing in (but again, that's why I was a little concerned that if it's "tight" and easing itself out, would THAT part worsen with time!).  Knowing that fellow shooters are seeing this, with no problems occurring, is very reassuring!  Now I'm saving my dollars and cents for a 97BD!
