Brass sorter bowls/baskets - any thoughts on them?

I've been using mine for several years and they work very well.  There is an add in plate that sorts 380 from 9mm that doesn't work as well but is still useful.

If you have access to range brass or unsorted brass, they are wonderful.

I am mad at myself for the years I spent sorting brass by hand!

I may just take a spiral saw and cut appropriately sized holes in the bottom of a few 5 gallon buckets and see what I can make of that.

I use those sorters all the time . Worth every penny if you sort a lot of range brass .

Well, I finally got them.  I now fully understand oldfrank - shoulda got them a while ago.

I now sort using a modified vibration cleaner.  I didn't come up with this, I saw it on the internet.  But I modified it some.  Drill a hole in the bottom of the bucket, place on top of the bowl.  I used a locknut and washer above and below the bowl so it will not work loose.  The bucket wanted to spin, so I added the small metal strap securing the bucket to the bowl.

Use one basket at a time.  Works great!

No experience with the sorters shown in the first post.

I have been using ID's video style of sorting, especially since I got the case feeder. With a case feeder having the right brass is just the start.... you also need the right number of cases in the feeder. So the plastic ammo blocks help sort and count.

And the blocks are easy enough to find and small enough that I can keep one inside each Flolgers coffee can. So when I reach for my can of 9mm, 38 Spcl, or 38 Super, the block is right there on top.

I still do ID's version too.  Just now I don't have to weed out as many other sizes as I go.  For me, it makes it much faster.  When I do "ID's version" is when I remove 380s, crimped/nato, stepped brass, head stamps I won't use, etc.

When a group of us are shooting and there are 9, 40, 45, 22, etc.  This is WONDERFULL to do the initial sort.  Granted, I've only used it twice, but I was very pleased with it!  (or the range brass I've picked up).

I've been doing it the hard way all along.  I pick up my own brass at the indoor range and HATE it when I get .380 mixed in with my 9mm stuff!

Those baskets work well and the video separating 380 from 9 is really helpful also. The guys that runs the range showed me that trick after I got some 380s mixed in

Could you please provide a link, or explanation ?   Are you referring to the video using the empty ammo box, or are you referring to something using the 380 plate for the baskets, or is there another trick?

I like the vibratory cleaner mod.  I use two buckets and alternate the baskets as you go down in size.  They?re worth every penny.  I was picking up close to ten gallons a week.  That stopped so the baskets sit idle.  Their only weakness is overfilling them so they jam up.  As long as you don?t overload them and dump them often they work great.
