Anyone else buy from countycomm.com?
« on: April 25, 2020, 08:34:35 PM »
I was looking for a decent, not too expensive replacement EDC/work knife the other day and stumbled onto a website called countycomm.com. The site has a few knives and some other cool stuff too but a knife was on my list. They had a really cool looking Boker Stout Commander flipper with a D2 blade for $75. What drew me in was one of the handles was made from a mix of shredded carbon fiber and glow-in-the-dark material. If you drop it at night you can find it without a flashlight. The G10 version sells for about $90 on other websites so I bought two of the glow-in-the-dark knives instead. Anyone else heard of the site or bought anything from them?

I've purchased lots of stuff from them over the years, including knives.  They're good to go.

A had done business with them a few times. I had troubles with a MARTAC aaa flashlight after a about a year. They sent me a new lamp out no questions. Neat stuff and great customer service.

I will be the contrarian on this. I have purchased items from them over the past 10 years, coming across them as they have a following on the EDC forum. Their products are really hit or miss. I have purchased some small padded molle pouches that are great. I have purchased other items (wallet, canteen pouch, and other item I can’t recall) that were average quality at best ( certainly not hard use)  and I just gave away to friends. Their knives are generally grossly overpriced. Most of the designs look suspiciously Boker, at 2x the price that you will find looking thru the Boker models on BladeHQ. The radio they have been selling for a couple of years, the GP5, is a “sterile” (how stealthy) run of Tecsun PL-360’s, at twice the price of the Tecsun  (kaitoradio, com or eBay). And if you look at the product reviews on their site, everything is 4 or 5 stars. I have tried to post 1 or 2 star ratings, and they would not log. Huh..how about that. Bottom line - I wouldn't’ buy into their special run / built to their test lab specs that they like to imply. Most everything they have can probably found elsewhere at better prices. Especially knives. I will add lights to that too. Any light  I’ve ever seen them offer is more expensive with lower performance than items that can be found at battery junction.com, which is excellent in CS and product line.
I am not affiliated with any seller that I have mentioned.

I haven’t purchased any of the flashlights from the website but some do kinda look gas station quality. I’ve purchased multiple knives from them and all are labeled Boker and serialized. I was a little skeptical cuz I couldn’t find these particular knives on any other knife dealer website. So I emailed Boker directly to inquire about the authenticity of the knives I purchased and they were verified as legit exclusive limited production knives. The Boker Lateralus G10 sells for $86 on BladeHQ and it’s the exact same knife as CountyComm’s Boker ‘Jason’ Stout Commander with glow shredded carbon fiber handle that currently sells for $75. I’m not affiliated with CountyComm either, I just had really good service and the items I bought were good.

If you are satisfied with what you have purchased and their CS, that’s what’s most important.

Countycomm is great. Their Boker knives are interesting and unique. I have a few of the Swiss-Army type knives and they are good quality fit and finish.
