CZ P-10S question?
« on: September 10, 2020, 09:21:19 PM »
I recently purchased a brand new P-10S and absolutely love it! My question is in reference to the new style mag release. I know they changed the ambi release to the new style on the P-10S that has to be swapped depending on which side you want it on. The mag release on my P-10S is loose and rattles when the mag is removed. I can wiggle it with my fingers and if I shake the gun the mag release makes a rattling noise.

I'm curious if anyone on here who has a P-10S can tell me if their gun does the same as mine?

Thanks!

Maybe your P-10S is just trying to communicate with you.  :)

Really though, i am just tagging into this thread to learn more about the P-10s. They are not easily accessible were i am located. I am interested to hear the input of other forum members on the subject.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

I did, they advised a small amount is normal. However it seems mine is more than a small amount, I was hoping someone who owns one could look at theirs and see how much play it has.

How much force does it take for you to drop a mag? The pin in the magazine catch on yours may be slightly shorter than normal if it is super easy to drop a magazine. Your frame could also be a little loose where the mag catch sits, but unless you start dropping mags while firing, I would not worry about it.

I assume it doesn't rattle when a magazine is in the gun?

I just checked my P10S which I shot for the first time a couple of days ago!  Impressively accurate for a subcompact!

Shaking...the mag is totally quiet.

The mag release has maybe 1-1.5 mm play in it, but requires attempting to move it to notice.

Mag release force to drop a mag is maybe a little less than most of my other CZs.

Sounds like you may have a frame issue.

It is common for CZ mags to rattle when full. But you're saying the mag is removed.

Correct ??

It is common for my CZ P-07 mags to rattle when fully loaded.  They don't rattle when empty, or when partially loaded.  These are mags made by Mec-Gar in Italy which are identical to P10-C mags.  The latest crop are sold interchangeably.

I minimize the rattle by tapping the rear side of the magazine against something (palm of my hand normally) every few rounds as I load it.  This lines up the back of all the cartridges against the rear plate of the magazine, to minimize possible movement inside.  Some of mine still rattle a bit when fully loaded regardless of my tapping.  Others don't rattle at all.  Not sure why, what the difference is.

As far as the mag catch or mag release rattling on its own, I haven't noticed that problem on either of the P-07's I own and alternate between carrying (keeping loaded).  From what I understand, the 2nd generation P10 mag release is basically the same as what the P-07 and P-09 have, but I'm not 100% sure about that, and either way you may very well have a frame problem as mentioned in a previous post.

Just checked mine and when the mag is removed, there is a slight wiggle to the release.  I've got about 500 + rounds through it and hadn't noticed it until I read your comment.
