For those who have not yet had an opportunity to handle some of the early ?80s model 75s (pre-Bs), I thought this might help with identifying some of the external characteristics of these pistols that I have observed. Please chime in if you have additional or clarifying information.
These three are from 1981, 1984 and 1986. The 1980 pre-Bs differ only slightly from a 1981. I think the lack of a ?dimple? on the right side of the trigger guard for the proof mark is the primary difference. These all have the wider spur hammer that was replaced by a thinner one around 1988. That was the also year when the SN sequence was changed from all numeric (six numbers by then) to an alpha-numeric (A0001) one.
It would be great if forum members with examples from 1988 into the mid-90s can catalog the changes in the CZ 75 during that era. There were a lot more changes during that era than in the Czechoslovakia times.
1981 - blued finish, Made in Czechoslovakia on one line; waffle pattern plastic grips.
1984 - painted finish made standard; Made in Czechoslovakia on two lines (introduced sometime during ?83); pronounced upswept front trigger guard; additional hole on center of safety lever (introduced sometime during 1982); waffle pattern plastic grips.
1986 - larger, more rounded trigger guard made standard (?86); additional hole on center of safety lever; checkered plastic grips (introduced sometime during 1985).
