When the weather outside isn't exactly ideal for a range trip, one of the things I like to do indoors is load 10 rounds each in two magazines and time myself to see how many I can land in the 'X' ring at 10 yards.  It gives me a chance to practice mag changes and work on my relay times, duplicating match conditions as closely as possible.

Finally got to hold a Shadow Orange, today. No doubt, it's on my want list. But, not at my LGS price- $1999.99.

Look around a little more?  I've seen them between $1700-1750 on GB every now and then.

Isn't static shooting at 10-15 yards boooring?

It is but, I like using that distance as a baseline for testing the accuracy of various factory loads since I don't reload 9mm.  This pistol is used mostly for steel matches at my local club and it's a lot of fun.

I have been looking at them on GB. The shame of it is, they were a little over $1500, just a month ago, at CZ Custom. I always prefer to buy local, but factoring a $300 difference, plus taxes- I'll wait until I find one online for a better price.

You won't regret it when you finally do find one.  I've owned mine for a little less than a year and I can say without any reservations that it is the finest handgun I have ever owned.  I've never experienced one malfunction and it consistently groups well with just about every factory 9mm load I've tried.

I got the exact same gun on Gunbroker last week for $1,460 and was stunned that I got it for that price. Obviously a no reserve auction. It was for my wife and she loves it.

Pardon my ignorance,  but what upgrades are included on your orange custom above a standard SP01 shadow?  I have the target model and am really loving it.

The custom version of the SP-01 Shadow Orange, CZ Custom polishes the internal part of the slide, rails and barrel, hand-fits the barrel, slide and frame, does a trigger job with the Ghost hammer, installs a short reset disconnector, extended firing pin, re-springs the gun and test fires.

This is almost correct but not quite.  The CZ factory does all the hand fitting of the barrel and slide rails, tweaks the trigger, and adds optional recoil and hammer springs with the gun, and CZ Custom then takes that and further refines the trigger, hammer, springs and firing pin.
