Spreading the Word (Baddest Pistol Extant)

The CZ 97BD is worth telling the world about: you can be the first in your state!
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1KqoLg_yh6K0ru2iNw_8VEU_qYsbTV8cW

From the CZ-USA website's CZ 97 BD PappaWheelie testimonial,
https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-97-bd-45-acp-black-aluminum-grips-3-dot-tritium-night-sights-10-rd-mags/

"I'm convinced the CZ folks love both their craft and their customers. How else can one explain the fact that (after 106 days of special-order wondering if the reality could possibly match the anticipation) I'm a proud owner of THE coolest .45 ACP handgun extant, and yet it only cost a tad over 800 bucks? The reality of my new CZ 97 BD beats its anticipation hands-down, and that's saying something!

Its trigger is flawlessly smooth and crisp in SA mode (like a free, out of the box trigger job!), with very short reset and almost no over-travel between release and bottom-out, easily competitive with a top-of-the-line 1911, but with lighter pull. I really appreciate that with CZ's decocker functionality this delight isn't burdened by the risk of a potentially forgotten safety under duress of necessary action.

The "flat aluminum" grips dazzle with their glossy highlights of high-feed milling cut pattern, accentuated by CNC-milled CZ logo, itself also a touch of artistic genius. This kind of unexpected design/manufacturing excellence leaves the competition, frankly, in the dust. The grip's narrow width (28.7mm, 1-1/8") and that of the frame (25.5mm, 1") complement the even narrower (23.5mm!) slide, whose full-length internal rails contribute to the 97's legendary accuracy.

The narrow slide's elegant cross-section, tapering to even more narrow at its top, produces its center of mass exactly on the centerline of the firing pin bore, while the slide's considerable mass itself absorbs discharge energy such that only a very light recoil spring is needed. It's an incredibly soft shooter, with gentler felt recoil than any non-CZ 9mm (or .40 S&W) I've felt, even including the pneumatically-assisted Walther CCP, with which the CZ 97 BD's racking force, unbelievably, compares.

At the range, my first magazine produced a laterally centered 28 yard pattern only 4" in diameter, with its center ~3/4" above point of aim! As a CPL newbie having only recently learned how to sort out the multiple cross-eyed views of front sight focus, I'm duly impressed, and extremely pleased that the sights are spot-on from the factory.

Although my EDC weapon is the incomparable CZ 2075 RAMI BD, I'll doubly enjoy range time because of this fabulous new 45, and when it comes to home security (and bragging rights), the CZ 97 BD is clearly the ultimate weapon."

Yes the 97 is badass but I prefer my 97B over the BD.  The plate is cool except for the MSU.

Ahah, ahah: you must be a Michigan resident, a UM fan, perhaps, and thus bummed b/c of MSU's recent dominance (8 of the last 10) over UM in football AND the fact that the CZ97BD plate is now taken.  (  :o] )  Or perhaps that CZ97B doesn't fit the format?
Anyway thanks for agreeing where we do!

My Nephew, who in reality first sparked my interest in firearms, has been a Glock fan for the most part
https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=91575.msg700261#msg700261
and he basically went "meh..." when first shooting my CZ97BD over a year ago. I'd basically given up hope for him but a few days ago he texted me to say he'd just shot a CZ97B and was going the next day to his LGS to trade two Glocks in on a CZ 97BD because it was so much softer shooting, and being mostly a revolver and striker-fire guy thus far he agreed with me that the BD was the way to go for him.

I told him to be prepared to wait but he replied that his LGS carried every model CZ made. Later he learned the BD would indeed be special order, projected to come in January.

Besides the freedom from risk of forgetting, under duress, to switch a Safety, the BD comes with TruDot Tritium night sights and has a nicer strong thumb rest area forward of the decocker lever. Truly a "worth the wait" treasure.

Not a fan of either university or football.  Tooo many problems at MSU of late.  For the safety, I carry hammer down or half cocked.

Don't know about "problems" except all of us have them.
The decocked (half cocked) state makes good sense for carry, but for prospective buyers the BD (decocker) version makes the most sense for those who have the patience to wait for the best. No risk in the decocking process, and for bonus, the night sights and strong thumb rest pad...
If you really want to upgrade, do the "5 Thick" trigger and Short Reset Disco trigger job with a tiny toothpick dab of Loctite LB8012 on the SA hammer tooth/sear interface surfaces!

Our long-lost (30 years!) goddaughter Jennie has miraculously surfaced, and is indescribably savvy, beautiful, righteous, and lovely. I took her to the shooting range as part of our reunion celebration and we shot my RAMI BD, my 97BD, and my Special Edition Urban Grey Suppressor-ready 75 SP-01 Tactical with Surefire Ryder 9 Ti suppressor, using Speer Lawman ammo in all.
She liked them all, but fell in love with the 97BD, pronouncing it the "World's Sexiest Gun" based on its looks, feel, and super-soft recoil. What more can I say? This is, as far as I'm concerned, an unsolicited testimonial from The LORD Himself, speaking through His servant Jennie, corroborating my own conviction. Don't get no better than this...

I got my 97B used for under 500 bucks...they had it labeled as a used CZ 75.  Mine had hardly been shot.

Who was I to argue what gun it was...it was in their 'fine gun room' and they have always acted snobby when I look around in there on previous occasions.....I'm sure they knew better than me what gun it was.

I just made sure when I went to the range to put some beer kegs (45 ACP) in the magazines.

Enjoy your 97
16 CZs and counting

I love my 97BD. Just bought my first .45 1911 on a whim. I enjoy the 97 far more. 😁

No need to hype it up...hard enough to find locally these days.  Nice review though.

I have owned and shot several 1911s over the years; I have owned and shot two CZ 97s over a shorter time span.  I like them both but the greater value is the 97.  My 2 cents.  :)

I recently picked up a 97BD. The single action is crisper then my SP01 or my PCR. The DA is smooth but heavy. I have a 13 or 15 pound spring, on hand to install when I get time.

I liked my 97BD very well. Felt it had a lot of potential so off to CGW it went. Potential has been realized as this is one outstanding firearm. Sweet!
