Wasting Money
« on: October 19, 2018, 04:45:25 PM »
As the title suggests.....I just love wasting money!

Whether it be on a new set of safety levers that are not as good as I hoped, or on deal that turned out to be a steal.  The latest of my wasted efforts came in the form of a set of magpul gen2 sights.  Now I know that people use them, and I know that for evo replacements troy micro's are viewed as better (and 4x the cost)....but on sale for $50 from Palmetto State...I figured what the hell.  So they came in today and went so far as putting the rear in place.  And that was when reality hit me.  With my Primary Arms red dot, I knew the sights would sit higher than the originals...but was hoping for a true co-witness vs lower 1/3.  but what I got was complete obstruction.  So, at the end of the day, I still got a deal on a set of MBUS sights....but also at the end  of the day I have no current or foreseeable need for them.

So just like an extra pistol grip, PMM levers, and now MBUS Gen2's......The Evo has once again shown me how a fool and his money are tied to the forums.

I found my Troy Micros at Primary Arms, on sale for $140... Still expensive but much more palatable. But they are the only BUIS I know of that would give me a proper cowitness with my DPP, so I needed them regardless of price.
Measure from the top of the rail to the center of your sight window and you will know what you need.

The extra pistol grip is/was a PASKE Pathfinder and a YETI Swtichback.  Originally bought the switchback, but even with the small/flat back, it was still a bit too big in hand and the boxiness of the grip made it very uncomfortable for me.  The PASKE was better, but asthetically I was not pleased with it.  Currently rocking the switchback after making the decision to taking a sanding block to the grip...rounding off all the edges...and subsequently making the grip much better in hand.

I'm pretty sure I have to buy three different versions of every gun doodad before I find one that works and is a keeper. It's painful but I like what I like.
