CZ 455 Scope ring base options?
« on: October 30, 2018, 12:41:51 PM »
I recently purchased a CZ 455 Varmit Evolution rifle. I installed Burris Signature Rimfire Zee rings using a Burris 4-16X40 scope. The rings walked clean off the receiver cut rail on the first outing. I repositioned the scope and shot another 50 rounds or so before I left for the day.
I can see the rings are again moving on the rail. What are my options? Should I drill and tap the receiver for a Picatinny rail?

I'm using BKL 1 inch rings, medium, 11mm dovetail...bolt handle clearance is fine and rock solid mount.

I'm using  the Burris rings for the Rimfire/CZ grooved receiver. Maybe I need to re-clean everything and tighten the ring bases more?

Did you use the correct clamp for the 11mm dovetail?

What part# are your rings?

This is probably the issue. You need to make sure you reverse the clamp to get etc the 11mm fit vs the 3/8.

I'm using Burris item # 420556 Signature .22 rings.
Yes, for sure the dovetail clamps are correct.
Clamps are stamped so you can't mix them up. If you use the 3/8 where 11mm is correct, it is a visual mismatch.
I'm hoping I just didn't clean well enough with alcohol the clamps and the grooves on the receiver, well enough and need to tighten more?

Sounds like you need to tighten them more. There?s nothing else about the 455 that would cause them to come loose like that, unless you?re runnin? through the woods bangin? it on trees :P

No trees.
This was the first time out with this new gun, rings and scope, at the range, benchrest shooting.
The Burris 4-16X40 is a large heavy scope and it moved forward until it came off of the dovetail after about  50 rounds or so.
I wish I could post pics here but, it too difficult.

According to Burris, those screws should be tightened to 30 in/lbs.

If you have a torque wrench, or Wheeler FAT wrench type tool, I'd suggest using it.

The ring screws did not loosen. It's the knurled knob screws that clamp the ring bases to to receiver that allowed the whole setup to move forward on the receiver grooves. :(

Those are the one's that require 30 in/lbs.

There's no slot in the knurled knob for a screw driver?

I put the CZ-USA Weaver/Pic rail on my 455 so that I could use the standard Warne detachable rings.

^That may be the way I end up going^.

Okay, yeah there?s a slot in the knurled knob. I?ll put 30in.lbs.  On them and give it another try.

Did you use the Diversified Innovative Products item # CZ-19008, 11mm dovetail to Picatinny rail?
