Kydex range holster?
« on: October 31, 2018, 12:13:10 AM »
Looking for a fairly basic holster for a 97 BD, pretty much range use only, I seriously doubt I'll ever carry it, much less concealed  :o.  I have a Fobus for one of my other range toys, works fine, but the reviews I've seen say the one that's supposed to fit the 97, doesn't.  Don't really want to spend $50 or more, and/or wait a month or two.  Also, call me a heretic, but I'm not a fan of leather holsters, and nylon is a non-starter.  Recommendations would be much appreciated, thanks.

Nobody?!  No one uses a holster when they take their 97 to the range  ???  And yes, I did read through the sticky at the top of the page, most of what's listed there is leather and/or more money than I really want to spend right now.  I was just hoping that someone had stumbled across an inexpensive, serviceable holster for one of these things.  Later.

You can get a pretty decent kydex holster for your CZ97 for $30 on ebay. randrholsters is one maker and there are others.

Thanks, Frank, I'll take a look.  Never thought about Fleabay, I tend to avoid it.  Later.

As I stated in the sticky, it’s a perfect fit and only $25.

Fobus #SG5 for the SIG pro 2340 2009, 2075 Rami, CZ SP-01

Perfect fit for the 97B with 1/2" of barrel exposed.

I know this probably doesn’t help but I use a Kydex holster made by Vedder that’s for a USP45.
My 97 fits perfect .

Just my opinion, but if you spent the money to purchase a CZ 97, you should be willing to spend enough to obtain a holster of good quality.  Blade Tech makes a belt holster that runs in the mid-$60's and fits perfectly.  Trying to save $15-20 on a holster for a gun of that quality just doesn't make sense.  https://blade-tech.com/products/classic-owb?variant=6067225690140

Turns out I already had one that works.  The Fobus Evolution belt slide I have for my Taurus PT 92 is a good fit, at least good enough for range use.  It's a bit loose, but I've got it set pretty light for the Taurus, so there's plenty of adjustment range available.  Later.

I use the Hogue "PowerSpeed" Universal Speed holster when I am at the range. It is a competition type holster that has an up and down toggle to lock the pistol in place as well as some strong magnets. They sit below the surface to they dont touch the metal. Bill

I will second what Raven45 said. I bought the Bladetech purpose built for the CZ 97B or BD.
It is a perfect fit. Great fast draw and no drag on the weapon.
A quality holster is money well spent.

No argument, guys, but this pistol is strictly a range toy, it isn't even loaded unless I'm at the range, and is therefore the red-headed step-child when it comes to resource availability.  I have a JMCK Wing Claw 2.5 for my P07, with another JMCK on the way for my PCR.  In other words, I have no trouble paying for quality where needed, but I do try to economize a little where the true toys are concerned.  I've been on a bit of a spree lately, buying and trading, and I jumped the gun on the 97, I bought it before selling the 1911 it's replacing.  Had a buyer, but he backed out after I got the 97.  So right now, resources are being allotted to the carry pieces, the 97 will have to wait for its share of the love  ;).  Later.

For the past year I used a Blade-tech holster that was made for my SP-01, in USPSA. The 97B fits just fine, once you loosen the tension adjusting screw.  https://blade-tech.com/products/classic-owb?variant=6067217793052
