So, I have a B"E" and use it as a match gun.  I don't recall having a single failure in maybe 5,000 rounds.  I think you don't need to worry about it being reliable enough for a carry gun.

I am tempted to send by 97BD into Cajun, but my concern is if I get the full E conversion whether or not my pistol would still be reliable enough for self defense/carry.  My concern, specifically is whether by making the 97BD tighter and undoubtedly more accurate, whether that makes it a bit more finicky feeding, or precludes the use of certain ammunition?s.

Mine has run 100% since conversion.

On my personal 97BE I ran it 1,000 rounds without any cleaning, using dirty hard cast bullets with a grease grove.  The pistol was filthy at the end of this test.  Did not have a single malfunction.  During my load development, I decided to run it to see what failed and why.

At 5,500 rounds(with -0- malfunctions of any kind to this point) I began to have some erratic feed issues.  I replaced the recoil spring and and mag spring (I used only 1 mag during the entire 7,000 round span), then ran it anther 1,500+ rounds.

So no, making a super accurate pistol has no influence on reliability.   Les Baer, Wilson, Nighthawk, Ed Brown, etc. match fit their barrels just like we do.

First 10 shots through my E-conversion. Slow fire, standing, first shot double-action, remaining single, 35ft:

Totally different gun after the conversion. I've already bought another 97b and will be sending it in for work as soon as the threaded barrel arrives.  That one will be a SAO conversion with red dot.

Is that a matte chrome or NP3 or?  Really good looking 97 there.

Chrome plate on this one.

Considering NP3+ for the next one because it has a threaded barrel and will be shot suppressed (which leads to all the usual filth being blown back into the innards). Have a few other suppressed pistols with NP3+ and it is a dream to clean, stuff just wipes right off.

They are some great groups. I just picked up a 97B a couple of weeks ago but have not got out to shoot it yet. I know it will shoot a lot better then me. I've lost some of my touch over the years. This is the first 45 I've had or shoot in 15 years. It should be interesting.  :-\

That's tight!  Been thinking about getting a 97, but I am afraid that the grip is too big for my small hands  :-[
