CZ 75 Pre-B 1984
« on: December 12, 2018, 06:32:24 PM »
Does anyone know if there was a matte stainless finish available in 84?
Looking to pick one up tomorrow. Gun looks to be great shape but finish almost looks like some of the old INOX finished Beretta 92?s. Owner claims it is original finish but doesn?t have original box.
Any info would be appreciated.

Not an original finish.

Could've been done by an importer- maybe. Hopefully somebody else will chime in.

I use Tapatalk, primarily because it's super easy to post pics.

CZ 75's in 1984, as far as I know, were primarily coated with the black enamel finish. I've seen a few that have been refinished with cerakote or gunkote to look like a metal finish...might be worth checking under the slide. What makes me wary is the rear sight is the same finish as the frame.

I noticed that too about the rear sight. Best I can tell is NOT original but wanted to get something from the experts! Thanks for the info guys.

Well upon closer inspection in is a 1985 import.
Other than the rear sight it sure looks legit.
Not sure what to do here. 🙄🙄

For reference a CZ 75 9mm Pre B ca. 1985 w/box EXC condition recently sold on GB for $667 whilst Mil-Surps can start around $350...hope this range helps you!

That is a BEAUT!  How much?  Looks very nice.  I'm almost sure that is not the original finish

I have an 84 and got it from a buddy GI.  They basically came in a nice even blue (not dark super glossy like Bs), a parkerized finish, and the nasty enamel.  Franconia models MAY have different finishes but most of those I saw in German catalogues were black enamel.

The only finish I'd respect is the blue or parked and in good shape.  The enamel wears off fast  If you shoot it ONCE with a ring on, you will chip the paint off.

Having said that I picked up an enamel 88 recently because the finish was a bit better than my 84 and it came with box, papers and serialed mags.

It is a sweet looker, just not really into buying a gun that wasn't refinished by me. Plus, seller insists it is original, but doesn't have original box.

That doesn't even look plated to me. Looks like a cerakote job. Barrel, pins, hammer, sights, all the same color.
