Stiff charging handle
« on: December 13, 2018, 03:42:30 AM »
I have a scorpion pistol, I’ve had it a while but have only put a few mags through it. I’ve noticed that charging it is very difficult and it tends to get stuck especially when moving it slow. I’ve taken it apart and found the issue is that the hammer doesn’t quite clear the two things sticking up (sorry don’t know the names, I think one is the disconnect.) If I pull the trigger slightly so it can clear it easier, it racks fine. Any solutions?

Is the selector in the fire position or safe?
When people ignorant of guns make gun laws, you end up with ignorant gun laws.

It’s in the fire position. It just seems to have a spec of extra material on the dissconnect and other part to slow the hammer down. Like I said if I pull the trigger slightly it moves the parts and the hammer cocks fine.

Is your trigger pack screw tight? The hex screw right in front of the trigger.

It’s welded, I haven’t changed anything related to the trigger.

The only other thing I can think of is check the charging handle, there's a little spring at the end of the rod. Mine was bent and digging into the charging handle tunnel.
Another option would be to remove the lower then charge it and see it it still happens. You can watch the recoil spring and rod also.

Like I said before it’s the hammer is catching on the dissconnect and other part. I’ve taken it apart and even together if I pull the trigger slightly it charges fine. I’ll try to upload photos.

I don't know what to tell ya boss. Those look like Normal wear marks to me and shouldn't make it hard to charge. But I'm not a professional gun Smith and your issue  seems beyond my capabilities.

I experienced the same issue with my scorpion, it catches about 1/2 way when engaging the hammer, I called cz and they suggested I put 300-400 rounds thru before repair request. It is much better now, still a little stiff and noticeable when pulling very slow, otherwise it is functioning fine, I am watching for excessive or unusual wear. I also changed out to a larger charging handle which provided more leverage. I think I have some tolerance issues that usage will break in over time. I would have preferred a silky smooth slide but for whatever reasons cz may not have the consistent quality control that I have experienced from other manufacturers. Please keep us updated, thanks for the pics.

It's not an issue, just the way it's designed, similar to an AK. Just shoot the darn gun, eat some spinach and don't worry about it.

Yeah, mine is the same way as well... Slow pull and about 1/2 way it takes 3-4x the effort to finish racking it...

Don't rack it slow, rack it like a man with a mission and it will be fine...

I believe it is he bolt-hammer interface, the bolt pushing back on the hammer.  Once the action is set (hammer cocked), no problem. As previously stated, once you get a few hundred o more rounds it may lighten up.  Only time will tell.  Meanwhile, enjoy and keep shooting.

Mine is new with low round count. The charging handle is sluggish and seems to "bind" even when I have removed the bolt group. It's almost like it sticks in the channel. Is this what others have seen?
