Want to change EDC gun for GL19 Gen 2 to a P07
« on: December 15, 2018, 12:40:38 PM »
I've carried and shot my Glock 19Gen2 for the last 15 yrs as my primary EDC gun.  The points that I like about it is first no finger groves, second no ninja rail and finally is it made in Aust.  Well I'm thinking about a P07.  It fits my Boston butt size hands well. Its about the size of the Glock 19.  The problem I have is that I can't find anyone that has shot the P07 5000 or more rounds. Yes, I since the internet guru's talking about their "new" P07.

I want to know if this a gun I can trust with my life.

Has anyone or is anyone seriously carrying the P07 as an EDC gun. If so how many rounds had you put thru it, anyone malfunctions or stoppages.

Not to steer you away from a great forum, but pistol-forum.com has several folks with high round count P-07's, guys using them as EDC as well as for gaming.  Look for members with the handles of clusterfrack and GJM, probably others, but those two stand out in my mind.  They're tough guns with a well earned reputation for reliability.  Only reason I'm selling mine is I prefer metal frames and the "classic" 75 action.  Later.

I appreciate the information and would like to hear more.   I'm not trying to start a flame or bash any gun or anyone.

This summer I going to at least one high dollar shooting school and possible a second.  I don't want to show up at the class and find that my equipment can't carry the load and have to rent a Glock or a Beretta.

I've carried Glocks for the 25 years on and off duty.  Its just hard to think about a change.

Joe L. a member here, has put 1000s and 1000s of rounds through both the P-07 & P-09, most of them without even cleaning them. He shoots them out to 100 yards as bullseye guns.

Search his name.

Understand your concerns and thoughts for sure & fully understand. Hey love em or hate em a Glock is a Glock and their reputation precedes them for sure ! I have Glocks and will probably add a New G45 next Spring but with that said I love my 07 along with my other CZ pistols. I will truthfully say I had 3/4K rds through my 07 with 0 issues but then sent it to CGW a year ago or more so that would kinda "reset" the clock I guess. I have done 2 Classes along with multiple range trips with my 07 since that time and again ZERO issues. All told I would easily say I have over 6K++ through the gun in both stock and CGW Pro Pak configuration and have always been more than pleased with it and never a concern. I agree its hard to break the mold and go with a totally different gun/platform/SA/DA mode. A striker gun is such a simple design with ease of use at the top of the list in my eyes.
Bottom line is YOU need to put in the reps/training with a totally different style gun to be comfortable and once that is done & your content then worrying if the 07 will hold up would be of little concern in my eyes. Good luck and keep us posted on your transition!

++ for what daved, m1a, and Grendel have said.
I was on pistol-forum yesterday and still have the tab open about the P07 being a vet-ed pistol and trusted.
I own a P01 and not a P07 because I like metal but it was a tough decision.
Asking a question about a pistol you are wanting is not "starting a war".  This site is one of the best for a reason.
Knowledgable people that are willing to share info.
Also, if you are going to a class you know you will be taking more than 1 pistol anyways.  I don't go to the range with just 1.

I have both the P-O7 and the P-09. I first carried the po7 for a while got very comfortable with it, did the suggested polishing and spring changes, and never had a problem. I then  bought the po9 did the same internal upgrades, been carrying it everyday for about the past year in an Alien Gear 3.0 tuck iwb.
When I practice I practice for self-defense and not bullseye, draw and shoot two rounds every time I draw.
Zero issues. Both pistols can make a good shooter and even better shooter.

I have a P-07 and carry it often.  I find nothing with this firearm that would prevent me from relying on it to be my EDC in any way.

My P07, has about 15,000 rounds through it, all are NATO spec or hotter rounds.

Zero problems, Zero malfunctions.

I have not carried any other pistol as my primary  pistol since I got my P07.

Currently, I am in a high risk environment and carry my P07 with 3 21 round mags on board. Plus a Glock 26 with a Glock 19 mag in it as backup.

Look up Mike Pannone.  He initiated a sort of craze toward the P07 several years ago.  He is a credible instructor and has put tens of thousands of rounds DR in the P series.  I am now invested in the P series and consider it robust, accurate, reliable, and VERY accessible.  There are enough holsters and custom vendors to make it your own.

I would BUY IT in PERSON.  Pick one that OTB has a decently steady trigger.  It can have grit, but buy one that does NOT stack.  You can smooth it up with a little work.  I polish and do the CGW EFP and springs for a 15 LB hammer spring and it makes a SWEET carry gun.  But shoot a case in it first.

Line Rider, carried and shot Glocks for over 10 years.  Still think they are a great platform.  However, I shot a PO1 and a PO7 a little over a year ago.  Went to my local dealer and bought a PO7.  I put 1000 rounds through it and then Cajunized it.  Sold all of my Glocks except a 19 that my brother bought me.  I now own a PO7, PO9, and will be purchasing either a Shadow or PO1 compact after Christmas bills are paid.  My best friend shoots only Sigs . . . he has shot my Cajunized PO7 and said it is the best pistol he has ever shot.  Carry my PO7 in a Vedder LiteTuk and will not look back.  CZ's are so under rated, and in my opinion, one of the most over looked weapon platforms there is.  Oh, I have shot and owned HK's and Sigs in addition to my Glocks . . . just say I am hooked.  I won't buy another gun except for a CZ.

I have one with about 3,700 rounds thru it, 2017 model. I trust it as a carry pistol.
It fits me well and I am quite a bit more accurate with it than most other brands.

Ex-Delta cat and CZ shooter Mike Pannone has tens of thousands of rounds through his P-07 and swears by it.  I just took one of his classes and my P-09 and P-07 ran flawlessly.  As a former dude who carried Glocks, I would trust my life to either of my CZs.  BTW, one of my partners in the class had a Glock that kept malfunctioning with factory mags so they?re not perfect either.   Here?s an old article that Mike wrote on the P-09.
