anybody have a solution to the p10 aggressive texturing?
« on: December 20, 2018, 06:59:42 PM »
Apparently I have dainty woman hands, because the one thing keeping me from walking out of the LGS with a p10c is the grip texturing of the gun. Anybody have a solution to the aggressive texturing? I've toyed with taking sand paper to it and knocking the sharp edges off the texturing on the front and backstraps. (starting with the backstrap since it is replacable)

Sandpaper is one solution, grip tape makes other guns have a more aggressive grip but it actually makes the p10c less aggressive and you can also add the rubber grips if you like those

Very light sanding with 600 or even 1000 grit sandpaper will soften the texture without changing appearance. It takes much less sanding than you would think.

I actually just posted about this myself.  I used some 220 grit and just lightly hit the front and back straps to get the sharp points down.  Much more comfortable now.

Bicycle inner tube is a cheap reversible fix.

Was just looking this up! I have Talon "rubber" grip tape on my P09 (love it) and going to order a set for the P10. Need to get to the range and decide on my backstrap size first.  Might not have a choice; wife picked it up while I was cleaning it up. She said "nice" a couple of times, threw in a "I like it" so I'm thinking I don't have a new gun anymore.

Talon rubberized grips solved the problem without altering the pistol. My P10c  is now painless to shoot.

I sanded down the FDE slightly, and it took very little work. Oddly enough, the exact same texturing on the White Nitride doesn't bother me at all, weird.

+1 to talon grips for the front and the back. I bought a sheet of the rubberized one and then also a p10c one for the small back strap. The sides I felt are fine. I cut out the sections for the front and rear, didn't use the sides, and then used the non adhesive section as a template for making more if i ever need it.

It's 10x better and doesn't just destroy my hand while shooting.

Just shoot it, your hands will man up after about the 3-4 range trip.

Agree with the Talon grips (they have an e-bay store as well).

And the comments about the wife "appropriating" guns from time to time.  What I hear is, "Hey, this shoots nice groups, I like it."  At that point I can either give it to her or buy one like it to appease her.  One time I just had to buy myself another one.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I agree with Rickytick. I have Talon rubber grips on my P10 and they feel great.

I must not be as subtle.  I used a file to knock down the points on the rear and front straps.

Do you have a link? I was looking on eBay (have a credit I can use) and found a guy in Tulsa. Not sure if it's the same stuff. Might give him a try.

I use the tape instead of sanding it down due to the heat here in AZ. Tape works great when your hand gets moist. Seems a little cooler too. I've taken handguns out of a car that were so hot you couldn't hold it.
