P01 project complete......
« on: December 22, 2018, 02:29:50 PM »
So just sharing a P01 I just got completed......really like the looks and function.  First the changes then some pics

CGW Burnt Orange/Black G10 Grips
CGW Reach Reduction Kit w/new black nitrite trigger finish
CGW Ultra Lite Kit
CGW Reduced Power Trigger Return Spring
CGW Floating Trigger Spring
CZC Decocker Hammer
CZC 14# Recoil Spring
CZC Trijicon Night Sights, w/Gold Ring Front
Brightly Polished Internals

Here are some pics, some with comments.....

Grips in person are a little darker.....more like the pic of just the grips

Sights set up in a figure ?8?.....w/Gold Ring front sight

Really like the black nitrite finish on the flatter profile trigger....thanks to CGW for offering this option!

Actually also filed (rounded) & polished the rear edge of the slide that contacts the hammer when the slide cycles, and just the rear part of the slide rails where the transfer bar lobes ride....hard to get good pics with the oil on the slide/frame but in person mirror-like

The transfer bar was polished on all sides as well as the top lobes that ride in the slide notches during cycling.

A little history, I have to admit that in years past I've had several CZ specific compacts; P01, P06, PCR, 75B steel.....in some cases a couple/few of a particular model.....along with many, many...did I mention many other brands.  A few of years ago I slimmed the collection down to just full-size CZ's.....I haven't really missed the compacts, though recently I just wanted "one" compact on hand, the one I always preferred was the P01, for a variety of reasons.....all of which really lend it to being "THE" compact, not just CZ-wise but really available on the market these days.  Its versatility, durability, ability to be modified relatively easily, bang for the buck, and performance really made me come back to the compact universe for just this "one".  I hope everyone has their own "one".....the P01 is mine  ;)

Very nice! Thanks for sharing all the info. I just purchased a P-01 myself and am preparing to have it sent to Cajun for a Pro Kit install. Is the front sight also Trijicon?

Nice looking P-01. What is the story on the trigger, did you have it refinished yourself?

Thank you for the post and the pics.

The front is Trijicon.....CZC is the only source for it, as I understand it they are made specifically for CZC by Trijicon...I've tried to find them on Trijicon's website, as well as elsewhere but CZC is it.  The sights "Gold" Ring is bright yellow during daylight, and a normal green glow in dark conditions.

Thank you for the post and the pics.

The trigger is the same one, "Old Style 85C" (link below), CGW has offered in the past in matt stainless, difference is CGW now offers it with the black nitrite finish, it is a $15 upgrade from the stainless one but I really like this trigger with the very durable black nitrite finish better. I always like seeing  :o  things in pics....talking is nice but seeing is really worth a 1000 words as the saying goes  :)

So I sing the praises of CZ?s to anyone that will listen......so in this instance I find myself in somewhat uncharted waters....hear me out  ???

Got this P01 and modified straight out of the box.....finally got it to the range and it was a jam-o--matic.  Turned out there was an ever so small metal machining burr that caught the back side of the brass rim as it was pushing up between the frame and the extractor....figured that out after getting it home and looking at what was happening while racking the slide dozens of time....took a file to that, problem solved!

Took it back out to the range and put about 150 rds through it flawlessly and notice the sear retaining pin had worked it way out about half way  ::)  This should NEVER happen......got it home and determined the pin appears to be improperly sized....or in other words it does not have the proper taper to lock it into place...possibly a bad batch?....I did not gauge it, couldn?t find my gauge, but it?s the only thing that makes sense.   Just sitting at home and pulling the trigger was causing it to work it?s way out the non-controls side.....have a replacement on order.

All the upgrades were fine......sorry to have to say CZ kind of missed the mark this time, on this line production P01.

Not complaining, just sharing some ?reality?, this P01 will get nursed back to health and be as durable/reliable as it?s brothers..... no CZ left behind!!!  :)

Which way is the retaining pin working out? Are you sure it?s the correct pin? How about some pics?

It?s working it?s way out on the right side (the non-control side).....the P01 has the retaining washer underneath the decocker to prevent the pin from backing out that side.  The washer fits over the crowned (slightly domed/rounded) end of the pin, whereas the flat/flush end with the beveled edges goes completely through the sear cage and is flush with the other side of the frame. I know it?s in correctly, done dozens of rebuilds/refurbs, that was the first thing I checked too.....had the same thought, but it was in correctly.
