Any tutorials on replacing Bren 805 barrel?
« on: December 22, 2018, 06:35:14 PM »
I have a Bren 805 S1 pistol converted into a carbine by adding a barrel extension, by pinning and welding it. Never shot I as a pistol.  I am having all kinds of accuracy problems, which I think may be stemming from the barrel extension affecting barrel dynamics.  No signs of bullet strike on the extension.  With the same ammo, my LaRue AR gets easily half the group size or better, both shot at 4x magnification.

Since I have purchased a 16 inch barrel from CZ-USA, I would like to use it and see if my accuracy would improve.

Are there any tutorials/Videos out there? Any help would be great!

Thank you.

Supposedly, it is a simple process with only the six easily accessible screws.

The following is a video for the Bren 2 barrel removal which is described as similar.

Below is a link to a previous thread that describes the torque sequence and settings for the Bren 805.

Summary
Removing the barrel is the reverse of this process.  Torque setting is 70 lbs or 8N/m

Proceed to tighten screw pairs from front (muzzle end) to rear.  Start with left screw, then right screw in the same pair.  Then go to the next pair down starting again on the left side and then the right side.  Lastly, repeat for the 3rd pair.

Please note:  I have not changed a barrel myself but am just providing info from others.

Thx

Thanks CZBren805!  Just finished the barrel swap but too bad I didn't see your post.  It was very easy.  I read the post on snipershide about the need for a special torque limiting socket pre-set at 8 Nm, so I got the calculator and it was close to 70 ft-in.  I just had to guess on the sequence, so I torqued the middle ones first, then the front then the rear most ones.  I'll see tomorrow how accurate it is at the range!

sorry to rez a dead thread but its relevant to my topic.

Can this be done on a cz bren 2ms or is the barrel population different?
