Sticky mag release. Lube?
« on: December 30, 2018, 09:37:15 PM »
Luber? I have my new P10c with a June 2018 test firing. It has a hard mag release. I have watched some videos on what needs polishing, but haven't seen anyone live the V channel on the release button. Is this because that is a bad idea for some reason? Is there anything else that needs corrected besides polishing the contact points?

Yes, the ambi mag release P-10C can be stiff. I dribbled lube in the channel and watched TV while working the button back and forth. It got it down to where I can use it easily enough without a whole lot of effort. I never dismounted it and polished it, but I've heard of people getting good results. I would also say I'm willing to bet Cajun Gun Works has something special for the mag release, without even looking.

Until it loosens up, if you push up on the bottom of the mag when pushing release the mag will drop easier.

I polished all the contact points inside, and it did help. Not as smooth as a unidirectional mag release, but a god start. I put a little Tetra grease on the V block too.

I will try pushing up on the mag.

As to aftermarket fixes, I did see that APEX makes a replacement mag release that is supposed to address this issue. It makes the release unidirectional instead of ambi. but this doesn't bother me at all. It's $68? I believe, which is a bit spendy.

Works for me.
