Can't get P09 indent back in from grip strap.
« on: January 01, 2019, 05:15:43 PM »
So, I thought I would try a different bag strap because it comes with three different sizes. I pop the indent out and now can't get the indent back in because of the spring pressure. I've got a gun punch set which right now I have inserted in place of the indent. Because of the trigger spring pressure I cant get the indent back in. But, you look on YouTube and they make it look so easy like it just slides right back into place. I cant go shoot until I this gun until indent back in. I'll never in a million years EVER MESS WITH THIS AGAIN!!!!!!!!😡😡😡

AND, YES, Im pissed, so Im sorry if I come across as disrespectful or rude. Ive been messing with this for about 4 hours and had the spring bust out twice and Luckily found it! Im gonna have to have a second person it seems. Because I decided to try the other back straps and now cant go shoot today because of one itty, bitty little """INDENT"""....I'm upset. A really great way to start off the new year! Im not blaming CZ. Im mad at myself for watching a f'ing YouTube video thinking I could do it myself when ive taken out the firing pin and extractor NUMEROUS times to clean!!!!! Its just the bleep spring tension on the hammer striker.

*edit*.... it's because of my own incompetence that I'm unable to correct this issue. As I forgot to ask because I was so caught up in my own anger, what if any tricks are there to get this bleep indent back in? And, have any of you ever had the same issue? Because I swear when I watch the video the dude just like pushed the bottom Edge against a flat surface and just slid the indent right in and mine just don't work that way. It's like the hole doesn't line up. The hole that the spring seats into... Whatever that plastic thing is called I have no clue. I'm still learning this gun....GUNS, in general. I've mostly taking this gun apart aside from the Mechanicals in the bottom half.....the plastic part....polymer part. Guess I got myself into this mess.....I'll have to figure it out. As you can probably tell....I have a temper and little patience...lol. I can laugh about that because its true! Any tricks is appreciated. I guess until I get this fixed so I can go shoot my AR-15 in my Taurus PT 111 G2 C

If you have a bench block, there is a 1/4" nub sticking up on one side. Put a small socket on that (3-4mm iirc). Use that to push the hammer spring retainer in past flush. You can also partially screw a drywall screw into a piece of wood or your bench top to push down on.

Wow, I'd hope after 18 views....all of you would have at least offered some advice for a person in distress! REALLY? 🙄

Actually, I had to have my sister come over JUST TO SLIDE the indent in while I had the frame upside down pushing down on spring casing(or WTF its called) with a 9/32 gun smithing punch while she pushed the indent in far enough where i could tap the rest of the way.. Must be extra tight tolerances on my P09.

Im sure all of the 18 viewers not offering advice either didn't know how to help OR was thinking....."let this idiot figure it out on his own". Im assuming the later. And, well, dont really blame you...lol. Just goes to show given time any problem can be solved. Patience is a gene I don't readily possess....oh well...problem solved!

Thanks Earl. I'll let my anger get the best of me and finally got it figured out. I do appreciate the reply.👍

Just a thought ,  but I think you should stay away from the disassemble reassemble videos, that will put you over the edge.🤬 Especially reattaching the decocker spring🤪

Like Earl posted will be the easiest way at this point. What you are doing is really not that hard but you let frustration take over where logic and patience should prevail.
You also may want to edit out some of the profanity in your posts as that is not generally tolerated very well around here. Just some friendly advice.

First off, I want to apologize if I offended anyone by my language. I was frustrated and was venting and it was brought to my attention that my language would not be tolerated even if it was in words. So, if I offended anyone by my use the foul language I do sincerely apologize. I let my anger and emotions get the best of me.

And, yes Im a dumb....umm...idiot. I recognize that. Still learning. I'm sure all recognize that.🙂 Baby steps.

No I dont have that round thing posted in pic with the socket inserted.

Gun block? Hey, let me have it as after calming down, receiving a private message saying my language wouldn't be tolerated and realizing how stupid I portrayed myself......yeah, a bit embarrassed.

I bought a gun punch set thinking was all I needed.....apparently not

Just a thought ,  but I think you should stay away from the disassemble reassemble videos, that will put you over the edge.[emoji2959] Especially reattaching the decocker spring[emoji2957]
OP....don't attempt to reassemble a Ruger MKI, MKII, or MKIII if this aggravated you to this extent. Or a CZ75 sear cage. People who have no problem with and even enjoy them are, without a doubt, masochists. I get flustered with some guns as well.

Glad you got it figured out.

Tried to do something without correct tool(bench block) and got upset due to time crunch. Was supposed to meet friends at range. Thought would be more simple than was. Made idiot of myself. Lesson learned.

I make a fool of myself a minimum of once per quarter, and that's just on this forum. At home it happens so often my wife doesn't even point it out anymore.  8)

No ones perfect, we all make mistakes. It?s how you handle yourself afterwards that makes the difference. [emoji6]

Earls post about a screw in a block of wood is by far the cheapest and easiest way to do it. You can even put a chunk of black tape or duct tape over the screw head to keep from scratching the main spring plug.

The best advice I can give for working on anything at all.......
If you find yourself getting frustrated..... walk away for a bit and try again once calmed down. Helps avoid breakage and scratches. [emoji6]

there are two styles of hammer spring plug - plain bottom or lanyard loop. The lanyard loop style is easier to push in to remove or install the pin. If that was the style featured in the video, but not attached to your pistol, then it will look a lot easier in the video than you will experience in real life.

I put the lanyard style steel plug on my metal frame CZ pistols (if they didn't already come with one).
