I'm chewing on the idea of SBRing my carbine, and one reservation I have is that it would be a shame to lose the nice feel of the carbine handguard in my hand. So...is there any technical reason why I couldn't just chop the factory handguard so it ends right behind the barrel nut, making it the same length as the factory pistol handguard? Asthetically, I don't know that I like it, but right now I'm just looking at whether it's feasible. You'd have to cut far enough forward to clear the charging handle channel, but there appears to be enough room.
