CZ RAMI2075 Magazine Base Pads (10 Round Magazines)
« on: January 23, 2019, 09:54:05 PM »
I own a CGW CZ2075 RAMI that I carry frequently in a right hand JMCK OWB holster.  I carry a spare 10-round magazine in a JMCK OWB single magazine carrier on my left side.

The backs of the magazine base pads on the OEM CZ 10-round magazines are almost razor sharp on the back (trailing edge) of the base pad.  As a result, this sharp surface badly abrades my skin at my waist line where this magazine is carried.

Is anyone aware of a replacement base pad for these magazines that might be less aggressive and easier to carry?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've seen people sand down the OEM.

I have on of these mounted on each of my 10s:  https://www.ebay.com/p/CZ-2075-Rami-Grip-Extension-Fits-Both-9mm-and-40-S-w/4006251435

No abrasion issues and GREATLY improves shooting.

You may also do sided a magazine extension made from a Pearce extension by one of the forum members mjeter. It is somewhat smoother than the ONE piece.

This is what I use for the short mags:

https://czcustom.com/cz-75-flush-fitting-aluminium-base-pad-silver.html
Says SP-01 only. But I think they're mistaken? Most CZ mags are the same except the polymer series and 97, right?

Is this basically the XD mod? I didn't know they sold them premade, that's tempting.

Yes, CZ75 mags, including the Rami, can all take the same base pads. This one gives you a little more of an extension to rest your pinky and get a full grip.

The problem I had with the modded Pearce XD extension is that you have to file the top of the base down to get it to fit, which weakens the connection with the mag body, causing the base pad to pop off suddenly and dump all you ammo and mag innards on the floor. Not a good thing to happen in a fire fight.

Thanks very much for the feedback!  I especially appreciate the clarification regarding whether the aluminum base pad from CZ Custom will fit the RAMI 2075 magazine.  The description on the CZ Custom website specifically states that this base pad is for SP01 18-round magazines ONLY.

Stopped by CZ Custom this afternoon (it's about 25 minutes from my house), but they are closed this week while they attend the SHOT Show.  Will follow up next week to confirm these base pads will work with my RAMI magazines.

Those base pads work fine on my Rami, rock solid, aluminum and more durable and reliable than the modded plastic Pearce XD extension.

In fact, since I don't live in a slave state, I'm thinking about getting one of these, which is about the same length as the other, but adds 2 rounds of 9mm capacity to the mag.

If you search "magazine base pads" on the CZ Custom website, you'll find a lot of options.

I second these. He does a great job and gets them out quick. He had a long running thread somewhere on this site.

Went to CZ Custom in Mesa today and took my CZ OEM 10-round magazines and my RAMI 2075 with me.  (9mm)

Checked out these aluminum base pads:
https://czcustom.com/cz-75-flush-fitting-aluminium-base-pad-silver.html

They fit the CZ 10-round magazines fine.

However . . . . Once the base pads are installed,  the magazines WILL NOT seat in the RAMI 2075.  They are too tall to allow the magazines to seat.

What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. They are clearly marked for the SP-01 only.

They work fine for me. They insert, seat, feed and eject reliably.

Unless CZ Custom has changed their design, the one you tried is out of spec, or there's something wrong with your pistol (grip panels?) they should work.

Did CZ Custom suggest any alternative base pads?

I definitely have had problems with the modded Pearce XD extensions. They won't fit my pistol unless the top of the extension is filed down to the point that they're too weak to stay on the magazine and end up popping off and dumping the contents of the mag on the ground.

To Phylers 13:  I am clearly aware that they are marked for use with SP01 pistols ONLY.  However, as you can see, there is discussion within this forum noting that another forum member (MeatAxe) is successfully using the base pads on his CZ 2075 RAMI magazines.  I am asking for clarification in the event I have misunderstood input from MeatAxe.

To MeatAxe:  In response to your question . . . . CZ Custom allowed me to try a couple of other base pads they had in stock, but while they would install on the magazines, the fit was not proper.

Stuart:  In the event you might be monitoring this conversations, do you have any input or suggestions?

You might contact Stuart directly. As you can see from my picture, mine works fine, but I bought it 3 or 4 years ago, so CZ Custom might have changed the design -- or whoever you met with over there might have handed you the wrong base pads.

RE: the "SP01 Only" text on the website, these base pads were designed primarily for competition use. I'm not real familiar with the competitions (IDPA, IPSC, etc.) but I believe in some classes, your pistol has to fit inside a certain-sized physical box in order to qualify for competition. It may be that these particular base pads are the maximum size that will fit inside the qualifying box on a SP01. There was also some verbiage on the website that these base pads are made to use in conjunction with CZ Custom's magazine well for the SP01. Just a thought.
