New vendor for press accessories
« on: January 25, 2019, 06:30:08 PM »
I found a new (to me) vendor for reloading press accessories, and some of them look really nice. The name of the company is Entirely Crimson (must be a die hard Alabama fan) and they make accessories for the top presses...

https://entirelycrimson.com/

? I was especially liking the quick powder measure release for Dillons....

Dillon Powder Measure Quick Disconnect

? Also, for those of you using multiple primer feed tubes, they have several feed tube storage solutions ranging from stands to ways to clip the tubes onto the side of the case feeder.

Check them out !

Mick -
You're in the "penalty box" for not telling your CZ brothers about it sooner.

Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200.

Yes but at $45, that's a little much. I'm really liking the ones they sell on Ebay with the little screw on bottle for about half that price.

I use the stop switch for live primers. Having the ability to turn the primer feed on and off is great.

There's another brand Primer Stop Switch for about $10 more on Ebay too.

Yesterday I received my order for the Quick Powder Measure Release and the Shellplate Indexing Roller for my Dillon 650 from EntirelyCrimson. The Quick Release is a very nice piece of kit, and I'm looking forward to using it, but the Indexing Roller does not seem to work on my one-year-old machine.

I've written EC explaining the issue and still awaiting a reply, but I thought to cover the issue here in case there are quicker explanations to be had. And also let guys here know about EC's customer service and response.

The issue is that with the ram at rest in the neutral position, the roller is still engaging the angled portion of the indexing cam surface, and not the vertical. In fact it seems to be about 0.250" short of that objective. This means the shellplate continues to rotate during primer insertion. In other words, the primer will be trying to hit a moving target.

In my mind the center of the roller needs to sit higher, so that the roller only strikes the vertical surface of the cam, thereby leaving the shellpate stationary during primer insertion. (This is the position the stock Dillon cam follower takes.) However, the roller only moves Left-Right and no amount of adjustment will allow the roller upward, past the point of tangency.

Ideas ?

DANG!!!! I am going to order that quick powder measure release soon. I've been playing with some settings on my Dillon 650 and once I have those dialed (know if I need different parts) then I am on to this new gadget. Thanks for sharing!

Well, I will say that EC sent an immediate, same-day answer. That in itself was a most pleasant surprise. :)

But the photos they sent look exactly like my situation, meaning I have installed the part correctly. The roller is riding on the angled portion of the cam, which means the shellplate will have some movement remaining just before primer insertion. I consider 1) not making a complete shellplate indexing movement, and 2) shellplate movement during primer seating less than optimal.

Still I'm going to try to use this unit while continuing to survey competing brands. I'll follow this up in a week with my findings.
