Another Mag Rattle Thread
« on: January 29, 2019, 02:24:52 PM »
I’ve searched and read quite a few threads on this but haven’t really seen an actual solution, so I apologize if it’s out there and I missed it.

Having loved and carried my P-01 for several years, I just picked up a RAMI BD and both the 10 and 14 round mags rattle like crazy when fully loaded. After reading through multiple threads about it this is obviously a known issue, but I can’t believe that the “solutions” in all the threads I’ve read is to simply deal with it. Now, for a competition or range gun I can maybe understand that even though I still think that’s unacceptable, but this is a carry gun and I can’t be walking around sounding like I have a pair of maracas in my pocket.

After slamming the 14 rounder on my palm about 50 times the rattle seems to have mostly subsided. I say mostly because I still have to palm slam it on occasion to get it to stop. The 10 rounder however will not NOT rattle unless I reduce it to 8 rounds. If I wanted to carry 8 rounds I would carry my shield, but I don’t. Is there anything I can do to get this resolved? Are there any aftermarket mags I can get that are reliable and rattle free? And lastly, how is this even an issue? How can a major manufacturer like CZ put a product out there with this defect and get away with not resolving it?

Please don’t take this as CZ bashing, I absolutely love my CZ’s, but like with any product I buy I believe it should work as intended without obvious defect or the company should make it right. Thanks for any ideas or suggestions you can provide!

It's really not a defect and CZ didn't put out a defective product intentionally or otherwise. Mag rattles have been an issue on many brand guns across the board. I had 3rd gen S&W's years ago that would rattle when fully loaded and topped off. The only cure I ever found was to load to capacity and chamber the first round with out topping the mag back off.
Some guys here disassemble the mags and clean them then apply a coat of auto wax to the interior of the mag and they claim good results in quieting rattling mags.
Give that a try and see how it goes.

Yes my Rami BD magazines rattle if I shake them but in a year and a half of every day carry in a good holster I've never noticed a rattle has anyone?

I cleaned my PCR mags really well to remove oil and then I auto waxed the inside and outside including the springs and sides of the followers. I still have the rattle issue with no improvement. I noticed it occurs more with the 10RD than the 14RD. It used to bother me, but it doesn't effect it's operation.

I've had rattling magazines in many firearms, and usually the only time I noticed it, was when it was dead quiet. Absolutely still quiet, and then, "Hey, what the heck is that noise?"
I suggest try the autowax and see if that helps.

Thanks guys, it’s still super odd to me that this is considered normal / acceptable by most people. I’ve owned handguns from most major manufactures and have shot many, many more and have never once come across a mag that rattles. I’ll try the clean / wax thing and see what that gets me, but it doesn’t sound like that’s a consistent or legit fix.
