CZ 527 Carbine Sight picture
« on: January 23, 2019, 01:50:41 PM »
Hey guys, I'm wondering what the "correct" sight picture for the 527M's round bead front sight post would be. Would it be #1, #2, or #3? Thank you.

I'd go with #3, but it's your choice, just adjust your sights to it.

Truly it?s whatever you are comfortable with and what you find easiest to see. At the end of the day all that matters is that you use the same sight picture every time.

Always been three for me, but I replaced the rear with a Marbles adjustable years ago.

Thanks for the input, guys.

amoredman- your posts are part of the reason why I went for the carbine to begin with  :D. any luck in creating a 527 that can be top loaded with the magazine still inserted in? How about a magazine follower that would allow a last round bolt hold open?

I think these features would really round out this Mauser inspired action....

That is wayyyy beyond me, unfortunately. I don't think that top loading the mag would work with the way the magazine and receiver are built right now. It WOULD be neat if they could be reloaded with either AR or SKS stripper clips...:)
As for a bolt hold open, not really needed with a bolt action and might actually be a hindrance in the field, as this is not a combat firearm. Well, it COULD be, but that would be what we call "a really bad day."

Yeah I think you're right on the hold open...
May have to put a bug in CZ's ear about loading features though..

What kind of groups are you guys getting with your carbine. I can get two shots about half inch apart a 200-yard with the first two shots but after that everything opens up 68 grain boat tail hollow points match ammo hornaday

The 527 is a 'controlled feed' design following the mauser action concept.  Cartridges are fed from the magazine under control of the extractor, which is not designed to slip over the rim in a push feed type load motion.  So loading from the top is not supported, that is why it uses a magazine.

Except that ever M98 Mauser has the ability to do it...
