Hello all, I picked up a new P10c less than a week ago. Brought it home, cleaned and lube it. Took out for some group therapy, when dropping a mag and slamming another in, it went right to battery and ready.
Not normal, right?

Very normal in many different brands of pistols. Most will do it with a hard mag slam.

I like it and wish all mine would do it 100% of the time.

Have a P09 and has happened a few times. ALWAYS, made me wonder if it was normal.

I'd probably be shocked if my po9 didn't do it. It's a huge plus that it does!!
But remember you got to practice like it  " didn't " do it. It's the old Boy Scout motto " be prepared "..

     Hiya groupie,and thx for your thread. I concur with operators so far letting ya know its not unusual and I also prefer it. I've know a few folks that count rounds down when shooting to last ones in the pipe and then swap mags. Rationals stated from easier on frame, speed of transition, not being caught without one in the pipe if in a tactical situation, to simply a habit they got into. As long as ones finger is not in the trigger guard I'd say what ever floats your boat. Cheers.

In fact, IIRC the P10C was designed to do it.

Whether a gun does it or not is dependent on the tension due to the spring on the slide lock and the friction on the slide lock lever versus the slide.  In other words, you can make adjustments to make the gun do it or not do it.  I think.  Bullseye shooters and people who don't carry a second
magazine don't really care.

Thanks for the replies everyone. It doesn't bother me that it happens, it's just good to know that it will. My little Bersa 380cc backup will go into battery every time. Out of all my hand guns these are the only two that will operate that way. BTW, the P10 shoots very well thus far and liking it.

I have quite a few different brands of semi auto pistols and most do this with a mag getting slammed in.

My springfield TRP Operator won't, my M&P shield w/apex trigger won't, My two CZ 75's won't. My little Bersa .380 will, the slide catch is machined on a steep angle, not sure what it is however.
 Not trying to be a pain, but question? Is this an advertised feature? or maybe a better question, what is everyone's experience (brand/make).
To me this is stuff to know, that YouTube vids fail to tell you...
I guess bottom line is, always expect what you don't expect. Like the two worst sounds you can hear from a gun...

I have a two P-07's, one standard model from 2017 and one OD green from 2018, and they both did it when they were new, but never seem to do it anymore.  I don't regularly try to make them do it, but they don't do it randomly and without effort as they often did when they were new out of the box.  Don't know why... maybe something to do with how the slide stop or the front insert broke in?  They both operate flawlessly and in a totally predictable way, with around 2-3k rounds on each, so I can't complain about it.
