Sell original P10c to buy new optics ready model?
« on: February 15, 2019, 07:33:14 PM »
I'm debating on selling my original P10c in order to fund the purchase of the new optics ready model.  While mine runs flawlessly (with one minor exception), I'd really like to have an optics ready pistol - as I currently don't have any.  The only exception I have with mine is the darn trigger bite.  I've considered buying the new G10 gen II trigger by CGW, but with all things considered, I think I'd be better off just selling my current P10c and buying the "new" version, with all of it's updates.  (Edit) Also, I'd like to be able to use the P10c as a defensive pistol, and as such, don't want to modify the trigger in any way.
However, I have a question regarding magazine compatibility that I'd like confirmed.  Based on what I've read, the original P10c magazines are NOT compatible with the new model because of the redesigned magazine release (reversible vs. ambidextrous).  Also, it seems as if the P07 magazines won't fit into the newer model P10c either.  I have a P07 with two extra mags (total of 4), and I have two extra mags for my P10c (total of 4).  I had HBI modify my P07 magazines so they'd fit into my P10c.  If I sell my P10c, I'd probably just end up including the two extra mags in with the deal.  Another reason I'm considering the update is, I'm interested in selling my M&P 9c (original 12 round) in order to buy the new optics ready P10s.  Besides the -9c, I'm not invested in the M&P "system" at all - so selling the -9c wouldn't result in any loss for me.  While the M&P line is certainly a good choice for many, I've only felt them to be a somewhat "meh" pistol (no offense to S&W fans meant).
Any "on topic" inputs are welcome.

I think it?s a good idea.

I have a first gen P10C with the slide milled for an RMR. I absolutely love that pistol. I don?t think I?ll ever sell it.

But all of your reasons for selling and buying new are perfectly reasonable. The only ?unless? I have is, unless you know which optic you want and don?t intend to change it, don?t get the optic ready model, get the new gen and have it milled for your specific optic.

I am curious to know about mag compatability with the apex mag release. I wonder if you can put it in a new gun and have mag compatability with all the other gen 1 p10 and newer p07/p09 mags

"While mine runs flawlessly"I would keep it! Find another way to fund the new P 10 C. I have the 2018 model ambi mag release that works just fine. I would like the P 10 S so, I'll find another way to get the funds. I suggest you do the same......You now have a gun that's a collectible Pistol only made for two years. PS: as for Trigger bite? I use a Wilson Golf Glove and that solved the problem for me.....give that a try, You'll like it.

If you definitely know which ooptic you want to use, contact primary machines yes, send it off to them have the slide milled. They milled my po9 Vortex Viper RDS , so tight you couldn't fit a hair between the optic and the slide. I also had them cerakote the slide titanium they did an amazing job.

though I have done some dumb stuff with money, I still cannot justify spending $150- $300 for optic milling on a self-supply slide. Nope.  In 8-12 months, optic ready CZ p10 will be selling for around $450 or less. I do support our favorites gunsmiths on the forum, but I personally think the prices most charge for slide milling, is a step from Robbery. So glad CZ releases optic ready guns at affordable prices.

The Milling CZ does on Productions pistols is generic. The Milling primary machines does is specific to the optic , that makes for a very tight reliable fit. Plus the fact that you're probably not going to get back what you paid for the pistol  . But it's your money. jmho

These are things no one thinks about when they call a measly $150 to have a slide milled AND refinished "robbery".  ::)

Not to mention its superior in every way to an adapter plate system.

??????+1👍👍Well put !!!
I know I wouldn't want some bargain-basement, backyard, hobbiest Machinist doing precise work on my pistol. This is not the type of work you hand over to the lowest bidder.
