CGW Trigger Return Spring - Urgent!!
« on: February 15, 2019, 09:23:03 PM »
Hey all.

So I got my SP-01 all detail stripped. Installing the Reach Reduction Kit. I had a spare CGW reduced power trigger return spring but I mixed it up with a stock spring I removed from another CZ. Can't tell which one the CGW is and I am trying to put my gun back together for some shooting tomorrow morning. UGH.

I think it's this one which has a reddish tinged to it.

This is the other one I have which looks just like the one I took out of my SP-01.

HELP!

I?m doing an RRK on my 97 as we speak.  Hope yours functions better than mine. Anyway on my 97 the RED spring is the OEM spring

bleep. I got impatient and used the bleep red spring. Worse yet, I mixed the other spring in with the OEM spring out of my SP-01 and they look identical.  SMH.

I just put the sear and safety back in too so at this point, not sure I feel like tearing it back down. I could kick myself.

Ok. Looking at the OEM spring that I took out of my SP-01 right next to the spring in the 2nd pic in my original post, one is thinning than the other. I assume the thinner one is the CGW spring.

Yes, the CGW is thinner than the OEM. It's only worth a half pound, you'll be ok.  8)

The reddish spring is the CZ (OEM) while the silver one (second picture) is the CGW reduced power return spring.

Thanks guys. I ended up breaking it back down and putting the CGW spring in it. I forgot how much easier the manual safety version is to detail strip than the decocker so I just bit the bullet and did it. I know myself and I would've wound up getting out of bed at 3am to do it. LOL

Got it all back together and the RRK tuned in. Super nice. Probably the best thing I've done to one of my CZs. The trigger alone, with the slighter curvature, reduces the reach and just feels nicer. But add the elimination of the take up in DA and the over travel in SA as a result of the little set screw and man is the trigger sweet. DA feels lighter even though it isn't.

So now my SP-01 has basically everything that comes in the Pro package except for the race hammer. I want to shoot it like this a bit before I decide to change out the hammer.

It's now at 6lbs DA and 3lbs SA. And oh so crisp and clean with all the CGW bits and pieces and the polish work I've done, and also the break in of several thousand rounds and many hours of dry fire. Love it.

Here is a quick video of the RRK.

First chuckle of the day.

" I know myself and I would've wound up getting out of bed at 3am to do it. LOL"

I know that feeling.  Sometime, during the night, I'll wake up and toss/turn till I just get up and get it done.  Drive's my wife nuts, sometimes.   Sometimes she gets back to sleep because I'm not there tossing/turning.

I took this picture when I was working on one of mine (don't remember which one.)  The CGW spring, when viewed from the side/compared to the stock spring, isn't spread as wide.  I never measured the spring metal diameter though.  I guess the combinations of spring leg angle, spring metal diameter and spring metal composition/heat treatment make the differences.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
