Factory Satin Nickel 7.62 on GB
« on: February 18, 2019, 05:13:23 PM »
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/799259185

First time ever seeing one of these, I?ve only ever seen 7.62?s in Gloss Blue or Polycoat. Interesting that it?s a PW Arms Import. Must be an unissued police gun that they imported or something, all the other 7.62 83?s I?ve seen that they have imported have had lots of holster wear. As far as I know this might be th only one of these in the US with a factory nickel finish.

It will be interesting to see how high this goes. I placed a couple uncomfortably high bids and got outbid about a minute later each time. Would be neat to own but I have a feeling this one still has a long way to go as far as where the selling price will end up.

looks great, but at the current bid ($856), I won't be playing in this auction.

I have no idea what this one will end up at but I?m pretty sure it?s going to wind up over $1000. $1200-1500 if I had to guess. All it?s going to take is two guys who won?t let it go, which is pretty common when something like this comes up.

Looks like in your excitement, it became 7.62 . Thanks for sharing.

That?s a nice looking specimen but it?ll be just that for me at the going rate. Wish there were more photos. With the combat trigger guard and the PW import mark, it?ll be from around 1997 as my guess and for the retail market as 7.65mm (.32 ACP) and satin nickel was not likely for LEO by then?

Rather new CZ 83 owner. Mine Is a surplus LEO service version. Not quite up to the condition of the one listed on GB.
I have a couple of questions/comments.
I agree (for the price) more pictures, in "different poses" would be nice. Question - with NIB is it improper to rack the action open?
Mine is from 1991 - it's stamped just to the right of the trigger (ejection port side). If the one shown is around 1997, did they stop marking the manufacture year by then?
:-[ Found it on the barrel (thru ejection port). It appears to be 2004 manufacture.

Excuse my preoccupation with serial numbers here.

The 068488 serial number appears to be an unusual one from what I?ve seen. A ?68xxx? pistol would have been from the 1994 period (with the round trigger guard and ramp front sight). This one has ?0? to start the serial number but lacks a letter pre-fix or an A? that normally would be on a 2004 proofed pistol. I think sometime in 2004, CZ pistols across models started sharing the same standard sequence with Axxxxxx. Eg., I have seen a 7.65 CZ 83 with A065xxx from 2004/2005 (don?t have specific year); CZ 75B with A02xxx from 2004.

CZ 83s from 2002-2003 usually have a SN sequence with Axxxx through Bxxxx. Anyone with CZ 83s from the period, please chime in on the SN sequence. Also, it?s not unexpected but NIB CZs (not surplus) usually came in through CZ-USA by this time?

I notice there are dot like indentations on both sides of the trigger too.
