CZ P-10 S release and other new models
« on: February 21, 2019, 07:56:33 AM »
Why does CZ so often release info on a new gun only to not ship it and have it for sale in reasonable time period compared to other manufacturers? The most recent that come to mind as far as pistols are the P-10 S & F and the micro Scorpion. For instance Glock and Mossberg recently announced new guns. They provided dates of release and their loyal customers knew when to reasonable expect to be able to buy their new models. CZ shows the micro in what early 2018 and still they are next to impossible to find. The OR F is non existent and the S is MIA. Heck Mossberg hasn't made a handgun in like a 100 years and they went to market better than CZ at least as far as availability. I love my CZ's but they need to improve in this area.

Personally, I like the advance notice.  I do wish they would be a bit more accurate with the predictions of availability though.  I?m good with them shipping 6 months after announcement but only if they say when within some reasonable measure of the prediction.

In November, saying that the P10F and P10S were in full production in Kansas and that they should be on store shelves within the coming weeks is frustrating.  Had they said that it was entering full production with expected availability before the 2nd quarter, it would be less frustrating.

But, even that is a minor gripe.  I?m happy that they are innovating and that we get to enjoy the results.  Hopefully, there?s a P05/P07S in our future to play with.

One of the biggest problems with the P-10 series was this was also the grand opening of the new factory in the US, which is why none of the OR P-10s say "Made in the Czech Republic" - they weren't. Also the main factory that we've depended on all these years also has to supply many military and police contracts, sometimes at the expense of other markets. Remember when the Phantom vanished from the roster? Every one being made was going to the Czech military. Also, imported guns have to be cleared by ATFE, and random shutdowns impact them, too. Imported firearms that might meet the definition of "assault rifle" under the Bush ban take even longer. Now with a domestic factory, I think things will get better and the US factory can concentrate on what we want here IN the US.

Concur it?s a minor gripe given the number of new products coming out. Nothing wrong with a preview of what?s eventually coming down the pipeline and of course, import requirements add to the wait. As for the P-10F production, I recently visited the CZUB store and noticed the SN plate looked different between the F and the SC pistols on display for sale. A closer look revealed the P-10F had a 2017 year proof so sometimes the early production items are stockpiled or held back from release for whatever reasons.

If you read the CZUB new releases from June in the past couple years, one will find that the US market has zoomed from a small one to a dominant one for them. By 2016, half of the total sales of 300,000 firearms in that year went to the US. From 10,000 pistols in 2010 it has grown to 100,00 in 2017. That would appear to put the US market in a much different light than in years past as well CZUB on the threshold of future marketing efforts and product development.

I?ve read many forum comments about  management still being of old school thinking, not recognizing market trends, ignoring certain features or wants expressed here, etc. In its defense, one has to admire the amount of model innovation and launches across many lines that has come out of CZUB since the time of the P-07 around a decade ago. I think it?s been quite a story since 1992 when CZUB was on another threshold as a newly privatized  enterprise.

I?d love to see a 10mm CZ 97B in stainless made in the US for the US market.  Oh, and a compact version too.  :)

There is exactly one CZ 10mm, a very custom CZ 97, but I doubt the demand is there for CZ to start building them for retail. I would be up for one myself.

I'm not up on model release dates and often don't know about new models until I read about them here, but I was wondering about this. I just read about the P10 F and S models here, but my 2017 P10c that I got the other day has an owner's manual that lists the F and S models on the cover page. Were they available in 2017?
I've found that growing up in the sixties was a lot more fun than being in my sixties.

For the most part F and S models didn?t start becoming available until late 2018 / early 2019.  A few people managed to get some early releases in mid-2018 but by and large the rest of us had to wait.

Yeah, the P10Cs owners manual describing specs for the F and S model did cause a ripple among P10 aficionados, but it took a while to become fully realized.
