Herrington Arms p10c compensator
« on: February 22, 2019, 01:35:36 AM »
Looks like a new comp option for the p10. Only major difference I can see between this and the primarymachine.com one is that the Herrington uses 6061 aluminum and pm uses 7076 and the location of the set screws on the comp. Anyone have experience with these?

I ended up getting a primary machine one for like 75 bucks but I'd still be curious to know how this one works out

Since I have read so many conflicting reports concerning reliability issues induced by a compensator, I picked up a SS guide and a 15#+18# recoil spring from CGW.  Hopefully it will function correctly.

Just don't shoot underpowered/light loaded ammo and it will run fine. My p09 has run [emoji817] with everything except freedom munitions hollow points which are loaded insanely light

Hiya Yankchef and thx for starting the thread. I bought one for an Evo I had,and other than looking cool, I didn't notice any difference it, recoil, muzzle flip, more or less of a report, [rolly 85 bucks I coulda saved. Now my checkmate has three,I believe verses these ones you guys got are one port, yes? no? maybe?. Well I'd run a shadow with a c-more and knew I wasn't gonna get use out of one for the CM, but to run the compensator,ya got no front site,so off to CZC to make one for it. Well without using any kind of meter, the muzzle flip is maybe a quarter of uncompensated,so does help to stay on target. And of course the similar decrease in felt recoil. But seeing I spent so much and had mods I didn't wanna have to spend the bucks to shoot more expensive loads at the range, it did take experimenting with main/hammer spring, and six pound offered 100% cycling of wall marts fed 115gr. Hope yours works just as well.

I received the comp and quickly discovered that I should have waited for the primary machine comp to come back into stock.  Entirely my fault, as I have a P07 and I bought a P10 comp, thinking it would be fine.  To my disappointment i discovered when threaded past the second row of threads, it would hang up on the frame under recoil.  And if I threaded it on past halfway the gun simply would not cycle.  Again, my fault for not checking.   So I ordered the primary machine comp and put 200 rounds of M.E.N NATO spec ball ammo through it with The stock recoil spring.  I had also purchased a Stainless steel guide and some lighter weight recoil springs in anticipation of the comp affecting reliability.  I'm happy to report they were not needed.  I shy away from cheap range ammo since a few bucks more gets NATO spec.  I will report back if I need the 15 or 18 pound spring at some point in the future.

I ran 20 rounds of federal 124 grain HST'S as well as 20 rounds of Winchester defender 124 grain +P.  The comp worked as advertised.

The Herrington arms comp now dwells on my gen five mos glock 19.  Where it does a great job and even looks cool to boot.  If you have a P10 don't hesitate to add the Herrington arms comp to your list of contenders.

Johjr - I'm confused. You said you should have just waited for the Primary Machine one instead, then you said you put the Herrington one on your Glock, and then you said that the Herrington is a top contender for the P-10. Those statements seem to disagree with one another. Am I missing something?

He tried to buy a p10 comp (the Herrington one) for a p07 and that ain't gonna work so he threw it on the glock instead
